Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2007
The Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2007 was Norway's sixth national Melodi Grand Prix Junior for young singers aged 8 to 15. It was held on June 2, 2007, in Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway and broadcast live presented by Stian Barsnes Simonsen. Nine participants participated and the contest was won by 11-year-old Celine Helgemo with her song ''Bæstevænna'' (Bestfriends). She received the award out of the hands of Ole Runar, who won the 2006 contest with his song "Fotball e supert". The first and second-place winners, Celine and the duo Martin & Johannes, were Norway's participants in MGP Nordic 2007 with additional contestants from Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. The album ''Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2007'' containing the songs of the finals reached No. 1 on the VG-lista Norwegian Albums Chart on week 24 of 2007 staying at the top of the charts for 1 week. Venke Knutson (born 20 October 1978) is a Norwegian singer. Since 2003, she has had six top 10 hits in Norway. Life and career Venke Knutson was born in Birkeland, in 1978. She was the youngest of three sisters, in a musical family, and she got inspired to sing by her elder sisters. Early in her life she lived with her family in the United States. Melodi Grand Prix Junior, also spelled as MGPjr, is a Norwegian television song competition for aspiring singers between the ages of 8 and 15. The competing songs are written by the participants themselves and are sung primarily in Norwegian, and on several occasions, there were songs in Northern Sami, another language of Norway. History The idea was taken from the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio, who launched a song contest for aspiring singers aged 8 to 15 in spring 2000. The format was a success and caught the attention of Norway and Sweden in 2002. From 2003 to 2005, the contest used to select the Norwegian entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). In 2006 Norway withdrew from the contest to participate in Melodi Grand Prix Nordic and the contest used to select the entry for MGP Nordic until 2009. Celine Helgemo
Celine Solemsløkk Helgemo (born 31 August 1995) is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She won a Norwegian song competition for kids MGPjr 2007 with her song "Bæstevænna" (translated as ''best friends'') when she was 12 years old, and has released a platinum-certified album. Helgemo comes from Orkdal, near Trondheim. She goes to a local dance school, takes singing lessons and has performed in local plays with her friend. Helgemo likes to compose songs, and her winning song in MGP Nordic is about her best friend Astrid Smeplass. She represented Norway in MGP Nordic 2007 after winning the local Norwegian qualifying competition '' Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2007'' Helgemo also released an album of original songs just before the MGP Nordic final. Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2006
The Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2006 is Norway's fifth national ''Melodi Grand Prix Junior'' for singers ages 8 to 15 years old. It was held on April 21, 2006, in Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway. It was broadcast live for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes. The hosts were Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Nadia Hasnaoui. A total of 10 children participated. The contest was won by 10-year-old Ole Runar Gillebo with his song ''Fotball e supert'' (Football is super). Ole won the public vote by a landslide and received the trophy from Malin Reitan, who won the 2005 contest. As the winners of Norway's national competition, Ole, Sondre, and Drops went on to compete in MGP Nordic 2006, with participants from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. MGP Nordic 2007
The MGP Nordic 2007 song competition for children was held in Oslo, Norway, on 24 November 2007. It was the third time a Nordic Melodi Grand Prix competition was held. Participating countries were Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. 2007 also marked the first time that Finland participated. The debuting country was represented by Yle Fem, the Swedish-speaking division of Yle. As a result, Finland's songs were sung in Swedish rather than Finnish. Organization One song from each country will win a place in the 'super final', whereupon a winner will be announced. Winners were determined only by televoting. VG-lista is a Norwegian record chart. It is presented weekly in the newspaper '' VG''. It is considered the primary Norwegian record chart, charting albums and singles from countries and continents around the world. The data are collected by Nielsen Soundscan International and are based on the sales in approximately 100 shops in Norway.
