Matia Bazar
Matia Bazar () is an Italian pop band formed in Genoa in 1975. The original members of the group were Piero Cassano (keyboards), Aldo Stellita (bass), Carlo Marrale (guitar, vocals), Giancarlo Golzi (drums) and Antonella Ruggiero (vocals). They represented Italy in the 1979 Eurovision Song Contest with a song called "Raggio di luna". They are known for the quality of their female vocalists: after Antonella Ruggiero, Laura Valente, Silvia Mezzanotte, Roberta Faccani and currently Luna Dragonieri. Their major hits were ''Solo tu'' (1978), '' Vacanze Romane'' (1982), Souvenir (1985) and '' Ti Sento'' (1985), which peaked on the charts in Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. Ruggiero and Marrale, the two main vocalists of the original line-up, left respectively in 1989 and 1994 to pursue solo careers. Synth-pop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Celso Valli (born 14 May 1950) is an Italian composer, conductor, arranger and record producer. Born in Bologna, Valli studied at the Conservatorio Giovanni Battista Martini. Carlo Marrale (born 15 March 1952 in Genoa), is an Italian singer, songwriter and musician. Early career and Jet In 1971 Marrale co-founded with keyboardist Piero Cassano and bassist Aldo Stellita the progressive rock band ''Jet'', in which he performed as guitarist and main vocalist. In 1972 the band released their debut album, ''Fede, speranza, carità'' (Faith, Hope and Charity). Aldo Salvatore Stellita (August 2, 1947 – July 9, 1998), was an Italian bassist and songwriter, a founding member of the Genoan band Matia Bazar. Early career and Jet A native of Sicily, Stellita moved to Bolzano at an early age. Giancarlo Golzi (February 10, 1952 – August 12, 2015), was an Italian drummer and songwriter, a founding member of the Genoan band Matia Bazar. Early career and Museo Rosenbach Golzi began his career in music as a drummer and percussionist for the Genoan band La Quinta Strada, which covered songs by artists like Jimi Hendrix and rock groups such as The Kinks, The Animals and Steppenwolf and by Rhythm & Blues stars like Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett. Antonella Ruggiero (born 15 November 1952) is an Italian singer. Biography Antonella Ruggiero was born in Genoa, Liguria and made her first recording, ''Io Matia'' ("I Matia" in English), in 1974. Matia is the stage name under which Antonella Ruggiero officially began her solo career with the first and rare 45 rpm vinyl record (Matia in Genoa's language means "crazyness" or "crazy woman"), however she had already collaborated (unofficially) with the Jet in their LP vinyl record ''Faith, Hope and Charity'' lending her leading voice in the choruses.
