Mehdi Nawaz Jung
Nawab Mehdi Nawaz Jung (23 May 1894 – 28 June 1967) was an Indian bureaucrat and was Secretary to the Executive Council during the Nizam rule. He also served as the Governor of Gujarat from 1960 to 1965. His house known as ''Banjara Bhavan'', located at Banjara Hills was a very picturesque area of Hyderabad which was promoted by Mehdi Nawaz Jung for habitation, is a Grade-I notified heritage building by HMDA. Early life Mehdi Nawaz Jung was born in Darulshifa, Hyderabad Deccan in a middle-class family of a very religious father Moulvi Syed Abbas Ali (Abbas Sahab). Career Mehdi Nawaz Jung was also the first commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. He contested a general election in 1952 from the Hyderabad constituency and won the election with a very big majority. Dar-ul-Shifa
Dar-ul-Shifa is one part of the Old City of Hyderabad, India, named after the 16th-century hospital it once housed. The location was founded in AD 1591, more than 400 years ago, by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, the founder of Hyderabad city. Todday it houses a large population of Shia Muslims and comes alive on the days of Muharram and Shia festivals. Most of the households have family members settled abroad, and whose remittances increase the quality of life. In Arabic, and derived from it in Urdu, Turkish and Persian, ''dar al-shifa'' means "house of health", i.e. "hospital". The name of the location is derived from the fact that initially the area was popularly known for its hospital. Mehdipatnam is a locality in the Southwestern part of Hyderabad, India. Niloufer Hospital
Niloufer Hospital is housed in a building in the heart of historic Hyderabad and has an interesting past. This reputed institution was founded in 1949 by the Princess Niloufer. Princess Niloufer was the daughter of king of Ottoman Empire (Turkey) and was married to prince Moazzam Jah- son of 7th Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan - (the last Asaf Jahi ruler) of Hyderabad Deccan in 1931.
