Megan Smith (curler)
Megan Smith (born October 16, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Chelsea Brandwood. In 2015, she won the gold medal at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, skipping Team Ontario in women's curling. Career Smith made three appearances at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships during her junior career, playing for three different skips in 2016, 2017 and 2019. In 2016, she skipped Team Northern Ontario to a 5–4 ninth-place finish after failing to qualify for the championship round. Smith had her best finish at the 2017 championship playing third for Krysta Burns. The team finished 7–3 through the round robin and championship pools, qualifying for the playoffs as the second seed. Facing Alberta in the semifinal, Team Northern Ontario gave up key steals in the fifth and sixth ends, ultimately losing the game 7–3 and taking home the bronze medal. Krysta Burns (born June 9, 1996) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She currently skips her own team. Career Burns made three appearances at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships during her junior career in 2014, 2015 and 2017. In 2014, she skipped her Northern Ontario team to a 4–5 round robin record and in 2015, her team finished 3–6. Burns had her best finish in 2017 as her team qualified for the playoffs with a 7–3 record. Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts is the provincial women's championships of curling in Northern Ontario, Canada. Beginning with the 2015 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the winning team will have a direct entry to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship. In 2008, following the formation of the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA), Northern Ontario held its first provincial women's curling championship, with the top four teams playing in the Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The Part II Bistro Ladies Classic (formerly the Listowel Women's Classic and the Listowel Women's Cash Spiel) is a bonspiel that is part of the women's Ontario Curling Tour. 2020 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2020 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Northern Ontario women's curling championship, was held from January 29 – February 2 at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena in New Liskeard, Temiskaming Shores. The winning Krista McCarville rink represented Northern Ontario at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and finished in fourth place. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Northern Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championship, the provincial men's championship. Krista McCarville won her eighth Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts by defeating the young Krysta Burns rink in a tight 6–5 final. Amanda Gates
Amanda Gates (born March 26, 1986, in Sudbury, Ontario) is a Canadian curler who currently coaches the Abby Deschene rinks on the World Curling Tour. Gates used to play with Team Tracy Fleury (née Horgan) and in 2015, Team Horgan became the first women's team in the history of women's curling to represent Northern Ontario at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In Gates' first appearance at the Scotties (2012 in Red Deer, Alberta), she won the Marj Mitchell Sportsmanship Award.
