Medhat Abbas
Medhat Abbas is a Palestinian health official who has served as director-general of the Gaza Health Ministry since at least January 2023, including during the 2023 Israel–Hamas war. Career Since Hamas' takeover of Gaza in 2007, Abbas has been an official in the Gaza Health Ministry. As director of the ministry's crisis unit, Abbas told ''The BMJ'' that Hamas had fired medical officials for "managerial, financial, and moral corruption," rather than politics. Abbas headed the Gaza Health Ministry's international cooperation department during the 2008-2009 Gaza War. Gaza Health Ministry
The Gaza Health Ministry is the government agency responsible for healthcare and medical services in the Gaza Strip of the Palestinian territories. It operates under the administration of the Hamas authority that has run the territory since 2007. During the 2023 Israel–Hamas war, concerns were raised regarding the accuracy of the ministry's casualty numbers. Groups such as the UN, WHO, Human Rights Watch and the US Department of State have historically considered the ministry's numbers reliable. However, the ministry's numbers do not differentiate between civilians and combatants and pin all deaths, whether from Israeli attacks or errant Palestinian rockets, on what the ministry terms "Israeli aggression". 2023 Israel–Hamas War

Al-Shifa Hospital ( ar, مستشفى الشفاء ''Mustashfa al-Shifa''), properly known as Dar Al-Shifa Hospital ( ar, مستشفى دار الشفاء ''Mustashfat dar al-Shifa'') is the largest medical complex and central hospital in the Gaza Strip, located in the neighbourhood of North Rimal in Gaza City in the Gaza Governorate. Deir Al-Balah
Deir al-Balah or Deir al Balah ( ar, دير البلح, , Monastery of the Date Palm) is a Palestinian city in the central Gaza Strip and the administrative capital of the Deir el-Balah Governorate. It is located over south of Gaza City. The city had a population of 54,439 in 2007. The mosque in Deir al-Balah which bears his name is traditionally believed by locals to contain his tomb. Up until the later Ottoman era, Deir al-Balah was referred to in Arabic as "Darum" or "Darun" which derived from the settlement's Crusader-era Latin name "Darom" or "Doron."
