McCauley, Edmonton
McCauley is an ethnically diverse inner city neighbourhood in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is named for Matthew McCauley, the first mayor of Edmonton, and is located just to the north east of the Downtown core. McCauley is known as the home of religious buildings in a small area, as well as being a large venue for the 1978 Commonwealth Games. The neighbourhood is roughly triangle-shaped, bounded on the north by 111 Avenue/Norwood Boulevard, the west by 101 Street, and the south east by the LRT line and the old Canadian National Railway right-of-way. Out of 272 Edmonton neighbourhoods evaluated, McCauley is the 11th most walkable with a Walk Score of 79, or "Very Walkable". MacEwan station is an Edmonton LRT station on the Metro Line in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is located across from MacEwan University on 105 Avenue between 103 and 104 Street. Metro Line
The Metro Line is a light rail line on the Edmonton LRT system. The line operates from northwest Edmonton to south Edmonton, and began operation on September 6, 2015. The line consists of ten stations, three of which are exclusive to the line and the remaining seven are shared with the Capital Line. A one-stop extension to Blatchford Gate station was completed in late 2023 but has yet to open. An extension to the northwest city limits, at the border with the city of St. Albert, has completed conceptual design, while St. Albert has mapped a possible extension through that city, along Highway 2/St. Albert Trail. Capital Line
The Capital Line is a light rail line on the Edmonton LRT system. The line operates from northeast Edmonton to the south. Operated by the Edmonton Transit Service, the line provides access to Downtown Edmonton and the University of Alberta. The Capital Line currently consists of fifteen stations, six of which are underground. Seven stations are shared with the Metro Line. Stadium station is an Edmonton LRT station in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It serves the Capital Line. It is a ground-level station located at 111 Avenue and 84 Street, next to Commonwealth Stadium and Clarke Stadium. History The station opened on April 22, 1978, and is one of the original five stations on the LRT system. Redevelopment work on the station began in mid-May 2020. The station redevelopment included renovating the entire station roof canopy, removing the underground concourse, adding a second platform (making the station the only two platform LRT station in Edmonton), adding new heated shelters, public washrooms, and a security office.
