Mbarara City FC
Mbarara City FC is a football club in Mbarara City, Uganda. The team plays in the top division of Ugandan professional football, the Star Times Uganda Premier League where they have been participating since 5 May 2017, after defeating Synergy FC in the FUFA Big League Play Offs, and the club uses Kakyeka Stadium as their home hosting grounds. Mbarara City FC has more fans than any other team in the Western Region of Uganda. History The club was founded in 2010 as ''Citizens FC'', after the management of Citizens High School in Mbarara decided to create a team to play in mature competitions and help in nurturing football at the school. The team played in the Western Uganda regional league starting from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, the team won the Western Uganda Regional League and was promoted to the FUFA Big League. Kakyeka Stadium
Kakyeka Stadium is the main City sports Arena or Stadium In Mbarara City in Western Region, Uganda. The Stadium is in the West side of the main city and it has the capacity of 1,500 people. It is currently used as the home ground for Mbarara City FC, a football Club playing in Uganda's top league Uganda Premier League. In 2016, the government of Uganda had a plan to be improve all stadia in every Region and the new Kakyeka was to be constructed on another big in piece of land in Mbarara. In 2020, the Ministry of Sports gave out 10 million shillings to the Municipal council to redevelop it, but later on the Turkish investors pulled out of the interest. The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The Ugandan Big League is the second tier of Ugandan football pyramid. History Original concept The concept of re-structuring Ugandan football with the creation of a new second tier league was first mooted in October 2008 by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The idea that was single-handedly promoted by Eng. Moses Magogo was ridiculed, resisted, and fought by everyone. Express Football Club, abbreviated as Express, is a Ugandan football club from Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. The club play their home games at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium. History Express FC is popularly referred to by the club fans as the Red Eagles and has also been known as the Express Sports Club.
