Mayobridge GAA
Mayobridge Gaelic Athletic Association, also called Mayobridge Gaelic Athletic Club or Saint Patrick's Gaelic Athletic Social Club, is a Gaelic football and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Mayobridge, County Down, Northern Ireland. History The club was founded in 1888 as ''Saint Patrick's Mayobridge'' and is the oldest in County Down. The minutes of the Central Council of the GAA record that on 30 April 1888, an application for affiliation was received from St Patrick's Mayobridge County Down. The acceptance of that application makes the club the oldest registered GAA club in the county. Mayobridge won the county title in 1918 and 1919. The youth club and later club grounds were opened in 1978. Mayobridge enjoyed a golden age around the turn of the millennium, winning eight senior county titles in ten years (1999 to 2008) and reaching the final of the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship twice, in 2001 and 2004. Mayobridge
Mayobridge () is a village within Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland, lying on the small river Clanrye which divides the townlands of Mayo and Bavan. It is located within the Newry and Mourne District Council area - it had a population of 1,069 people in the 2011 Census. It falls within the parish of Clonallan, and historically within the barony of Upper Iveagh Upper. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Ladies' Gaelic Football
Ladies' Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach na mBan) is a women's team sport. It is the women's equivalent of Gaelic football. Ladies' football is organised by the Ladies' Gaelic Football Association. Two teams of 15 players kick or hand-pass a round ball towards goals at each end of a grass pitch, since May 2022 women Gaelic footballers have to wear shin pads. The sport is mainly played in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, where the two main competitions are the All-Ireland Senior Ladies' Football Championship and the Ladies' National Football League. County Down

The Down Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by top-tier Down GAA clubs. The Down County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association has organised it since 1903. Kilcoo are the title holders (2022) defeating Warrenpoint in the Final. The Ulster Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition played between the top clubs in Ulster GAA. The trophy awarded to the winners is the Seamus McFerran Cup ( ga, Corn Shéamuis Mhic Fearáin). The winners and the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Glen are the current champions, having beaten Kilcoo in the 2022 final. Crossmaglen Rangers from Armagh have won the most titles with eleven wins. The Down Junior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by lower-tier Down GAA clubs. Brendan Coulter
Brendan "Benny" Coulter is an Irish Gaelic football manager and player who plays for his local club Mayobridge and, previously, for the Down senior football team until his retirement in 2014; he also teaches kids about Gaelic in different schools around Northern Ireland. Playing career During his prime, Coulter was regarded as one of the best attackers in Gaelic football. He is Ulster's leading Championship goal scorer of all-time. He won an Ulster Minor Championship Medal in 1999, and later that year won the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship with Down he scored 1-02 in the All Ireland Final. Conor Garvey
Conor Gravey is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played in the 2010 All-Ireland Final. He operates at full-back. Career He was not allowed to play in the 2012 Ulster Senior Final because of a suspension. He was thought to have put a stamp on to Karl O'Connell in the Ulster Semi Final game with Monaghan. Down manager James McCartan Jnr confirmed it was not the stamp, but an instant of 'endangering an opposition player' that was noticed in video evidence. Garevy had an ankle injury so he could only get one substitute appearance in the 2013 League. Mickey Linden
Michael Rory "Mickey" Linden is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for Down in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s. He was part of the Down team that won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 1991 and 1994. Linden also won two Ulster Senior Football Championships and a National League title with Down. In 1994 he also won an All Star award and named Texaco Footballer of the Year. He usually played as a corner forward. He was renowned for his speed, "electrifying skills", turn of foot and accuracy in front of the posts with both feet. Tom O'Hare
Tom O'Hare (born 1943 in Mayobridge, County Down) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local clubs Mayobridge and Clonduff and was a member of the Down senior inter-county team from the 1960s until the 1970s. O'Hare won an All-Ireland winners' medal with Down in 1968, scoring two points from 45s. O'Hare was recognised as one of the best defenders ever to play the game. He is currently a trustee and president of his club Mayobridge.
