It is part of the Poughkeepsie– Newburgh– Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the larger New York–Newark–Bridgeport, NY- NJ- CT- PA Combined Statistical Area. It is located mostly in the town of Montgomery, but a small portion is in the town of Hamptonburgh. New York State Route 208 (NY 208) is a state highway located in southern New York in the United States. The southern terminus is at an intersection with NY 17M in the Orange County village of Monroe. Hamptonburgh, New York
Hamptonburgh is a town located in the north central part of Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 5,489 at the 2020 census. The municipal offices are at the hamlet of Campbell Hall. History The town was part of the patent of 1703, assigned to Christopher Denn and others. Hamptonburgh was named by an early settler, William Bull, for his place of birth—Wolverhampton,England. Bull married Sarah Wells. Bull was a stone mason and built many stone houses in area. He built what is now known as General Henry Knox's Headquarters, used as a headquarters in the American Revolution. William and Sarah married in 1718 and built the Bull Stone House on 100 acres, now at the intersection of the Sarah Wells Trail and County Route 51. Montgomery (town), New York
Montgomery is a town in Orange County, New York, United States. The population was 23,322 at the 2020 census. It was named in honor of Richard Montgomery, a Revolutionary War general killed in 1775 at the Battle of Quebec. The northern town line is contiguous with the Ulster County border. Montgomery is immediately west of the town of Newburgh. Within its borders are three villages, one eponymous, as well as Walden and most of Maybrook. History The early town began as a patent to Henry Wileman in 1710, who was the first settler.
