King George Street (Jerusalem)
King George Street ( he, רחוב המלך ג׳ורג׳, ''Rehov ha-Melekh Jorj'', ar, شارع الملك جورج ''Shara'a al-Malik Jurj'') is a street in central Jerusalem which joins the famous Ben Yehuda Street and Jaffa Road to form the Downtown Triangle central business district. The street was named in honour of King George V on December 9, 1924. History King George Street was dedicated in honour of the seventh anniversary of the British conquest of Jerusalem under General Allenby. Marek Yanai (born 1946) is an Israeli figurative painter and senior lecturer at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. He paints in watercolor and oil. His work as a painter and a teacher has contributed greatly to the establishing and development of figurative expression in art, design and animation in Israel. Biography Marek Yanai was born in Germany in 1946 and immigrated to Israel from Poland in 1957. He graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem in 1970, student of . In 1969 he founded the “Teddy” Puppet Theater, and was its director until 1971. Ludwig Blum (24 July 1891 – 28 July 1974) was a Moravian-born Israeli painter. He emigrated to Israel in 1923, as part of the Third Aliyah, and became known as "the painter of Jerusalem".
