Marek Yanai
Marek Yanai (born 1946) is an Israeli figurative painter and senior lecturer at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. He paints in watercolor and oil. His work as a painter and a teacher has contributed greatly to the establishing and development of figurative expression in art, design and animation in Israel. Biography Marek Yanai was born in Germany in 1946 and immigrated to Israel from Poland in 1957. He graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem in 1970, student of . In 1969 he founded the “Teddy” Puppet Theater, and was its director until 1971. In 1973 and 1974 he studied techniques of the Old Masters in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Art, Madrid. Hava Pinhas-Cohen ( he, חוה פנחס-כהן; 18 January 1955 – 29 October 2022) was an Israeli writer and poet. She was the first sabra of her family. Her work explored themes of Israel, Judaism, and eroticism. She served as the Editor-in-Chief of the literary journal Dimui and a translator, columnist, and book reviewer for Maariv. Early life Hava Pinhas-Cohen was born to a Jewish family of Bulgarian immigrants in 1955. Her family fled the European continent in the aftermath of World War II. They found a new life in Israel. Pinhas-Cohen was the first in her family to be born in the state of Israel. According to Yaniv Hagbi, in a comment translated from Hebrew to English, "Her experiences, the state of Israel, Judaism, eroticism, and the Tanakh are remarkably woven together in the tapestry of her work." The historic 19th century building, in Jerusalem's Rehavia neighborhood, was the home of Boris Schatz, who opened an art school and museum alongside his family residence. Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design ( he, בצלאל, אקדמיה לאמנות ועיצוב) is a public college of design and art located in Jerusalem. Established in 1906 by Jewish painter and sculptor Boris Schatz, Bezalel is Israel's oldest institution of higher education and is considered the most prestigious art school in the country.
