Subedar Murshid Quli Khan sent Aga Baker Khan to Kirtan Khola in the area of Chandradwip which was named Baker Ganj after him. It was named Mathbaria after the Hindu-dominated Math of Mathbaria in a lower area in the Mauza of Baker Ganj. Mathbaria police station was established in 1904. Pirojpur District
Pirojpur () is a district (zilla) in southern-western Bangladesh. It is a part of Barisal Division. Etymology According to myth, the second son of Subedar Shah Shuja, Firoz Shah, died in this area, and the area became known subsequently as 'Firozpur'. In time, the pronunciation 'Firozpur' slowly muted to 'Pirozpur' and later 'Pirojpur'. Geography Most of the land is low-lying and the soil is fertile. There are small forests. Nesarabad is known for its business centre and also for the Sundori tree (a kind of mangrove) that grows there. Barisal Division
Barishal Division is one of the eight administrative divisions of Bangladesh. Located in the south-central part of the country, it has an area of , and a population of 8,325,666 at the 2011 Census. Municipal Corporations or municipalities (also known as pourasabha) are the local governing bodies of the cities and towns in Bangladesh. There are 330 such municipal corporations in eight divisions of Bangladesh. A municipal corporation serving a town may be called a town council, and a municipal corporation serving a city is styled a city council; these bodies are divided into wards, which are further divided into mauzas and mahallas.
