Maruthu Pandi
''Maruthu Pandi'' is a 1990 Indian Tamil language action drama film directed by Manoj Kumar. The film stars Ramki, Seetha and Nirosha, with Nassar, S. S. Chandran, Senthil, Kovai Sarala, Raghavi and Pradeep Shakthi playing supporting roles. The film, produced by S. Selvarethinam, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 27 April 1990. The movie was a huge hit at box office. The film was remade in Kannada as ''Kollur Kala'' (1991) and in Hindi as '' Aag'' (1994). Plot In the village Ammapatti, Maruthu Pandi is a coracle operator in the day and the village protector at night. The villagers give him food in exchange for his work. Manoj Kumar (film Director)
Manoj Kumar is an Indian film director, producer and television actor who has directed Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films and Tamil serials. He is the brother-in-law of Bharathiraja. Career After assisting Bharathiraja in various films, he made his directorial debut with ''Mannukkul Vairam'' (1986). He directed several films in 1990s such as, ''Guru Paarvai'' (1998) starring Prakash Raj, won positive reviews. He attempted to collaborate again with Prakash Raj and Prabhu in a film titled ''Vasantha Kaalam'', but the project was stalled. Nagoor Babu, known by his stage name Mano, is an Indian playback singer, voice-over artist, actor, producer, television anchor and composer. He is a recipient of several awards such as the Nandi Awards from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Kalaimamani award from the Government of Tamil Nadu. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood. After a few years, Chattu Nair married Ammalu in an arranged marriage. Vasudevan was born on 15 June 1944 as their eighth and youngest child. Even though he was a Malayali, as was the case with the majority of contemporary South Indian migrants to Malaya then, his surroundings in Malaysia was dominated by the Tamil language and culture.
