Martina Centofanti (born 19 May 1998) is an Italian group rhythmic gymnast. A member of the national squad since 2015, Centofanti ascended to prominence on the international scene at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she and fellow rhythmic gymnasts Sofia Lodi, Camilla Patriarca, Marta Pagnini, and Alessia Maurelli attained a total score of 35.549 on the combination of hoops, ribbons, and clubs for the fourth spot in the final, slipping her team off the podium by nearly two tenths of a point. Rhythmic Gymnast
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport in which gymnasts perform on a floor with an apparatus: hoop, ball, clubs, ribbon. The sport combines elements of gymnastics, dance and calisthenics; gymnasts must be strong, flexible, agile, dexterous and coordinated. Rhythmic gymnastics is governed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), which first recognized it as a sport in 1963. An aurora (plural: auroras or aurorae), also commonly known as the polar lights, is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions (around the Arctic and Antarctic). She is the 2018 World Group All-around silver medalist and two-time European (2018) Group All-around silver medalist. Career Junior She first appeared in Italian National team in 2013, when she was a member of a junior group which competed at the 2013 European Junior Championships and placed 6th in Group All-around and in 5 Hoops Final as well. A year later, she competed as individual at the 2014 European Junior Championships and took 6th place in Team competition together with teammates Maria Vilucchi, Arianna Malavasi and Ginevra Fiore Parrini. 2018 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships
The 2018 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships were held in Sofia, Bulgaria, from 10 September to 16 September 2018 at Arena Armeec. The top three countries in the group all-around, Russia, Italy, and Bulgaria won the first three spots for the 2020 Olympic Games. Russia was the most successful nation of the competition with seven of the nine gold medals, and Bulgaria and Italy each won a title. The Women's rhythmic group all-around competition at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre in Tokyo, Japan, with the qualification taking place at 7 August and the final on 8 August. Russian rhythmic gymnasts were the five-time defending champions in the event. Competition format The competition consisted of a qualification round and a final round. The top eight teams in the qualification round advance to the final round. Marta Pagnini (born 21 January 1991) is a retired Italian group rhythmic gymnast from Prato, Italy. Career She was part of the 2010 and 2011 Italian Group that competed at the World Championships that won the Group All-around gold medal. Her teammates also won a pair of bronze medals at the 2012 World Cup Final in 5 Balls and 3 Ribbons + 2 Hoops. She has won a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the group all-around event together with other Group Members( Elisa Blanchi, Romina Laurito, Elisa Santoni, Anzhelika Savrayuk, Andreea Stefanescu ).
