Mark Royal (born 1975) is an English international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Outdoors Royal won the Men's Champion of Champions singles title in 2003, at the National Championships. In 2021, he reached the final of the event again, only to lose out to Jamie Chestney 21–11. Indoors Indoors he reached a career high world indoor ranking of 2 in 2009 and has been in the worlds top 16 since 2003. Major successes include winning the Welsh Open in 2008 and 2011. Awards He was awarded the 2009 Players Player of the Year and Performance of the Year by the World Bowls Tour. Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). The English Bowls Association was the governing body of bowls in England until 2007. From 2008 onwards, Bowls England was formed, which now runs the sport. The national finals for bowls are held annually, where either 1, 2 or 3 representatives from each county compete for the national titles. Below is a record of all English Bowls Association (EBA) and Bowls England champions. This is a unique record of these champions, as EBA and Bowls England champions will never be recorded together in official handbooks. In addition, only the name of the club of the successful participants has been recorded in the past. Jamie Chestney
Jamie Chestney (born 15 November 1986) is an English male international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career International achievements His first major international medal came in 2011 when he won the singles and triples gold medals at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. The following year he gained a bronze medal at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in the pairs competition with Graham Shadwell. Two years later he competed for England in the men's fours at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a silver medal. He finished runner-up in the 2016 International Open and the following year won the Cooperative Funeralcare International Open. In 2018, he won the World Indoor Open Pairs title with Mark Dawes and then won the Mixed Pairs title the following day with Lesley Doig. The World Bowls Tour Awards are the annual awards ceremony hosted by the World Bowls Tour to recognise the achievements of the bowls players who compete on the World Bowls Tour (WBT). The annual event is usually held in January, which take place just before the World Indoor Bowls Championships begins. The annual World Bowls Tour Hall of Fame induction happens at the annual awards ceremony too, which was launched along with the inaugural World Bowls Tour Awards ceremony in 2008. Greg Harlow (born 6 July 1968) is an English international indoor bowls player. Bowls career World Indoor Championships Born in Ely, Greg Harlow rose to the world ranking of number one indoors during 2006. Despite being world number one it was not until 2007 that he won his first title at the World Indoor Bowls Championships. That victory was the mixed pairs at the 2007 World Indoor Bowls Championship with Jo Morris. His finest moment arrived when winning the 2010 World Indoor Bowls Championship where he defeated Stewart Anderson of Scotland in the final. A third title was won when he won the men's pairs with Nick Brett at the 2014. He repeated the success of winning the pairs with Brett again, when they won the 2020 World Indoor Bowls Championship open pairs title. His world ranking has remained high retaining the world number ranking in 2012, 2017 and 2018 but had been unlucky in the World indoors by finishing runner-up on seven occasions.
