World Bowls Tour
The World Bowls Tour is an international organisation which promotes indoor bowls worldwide and organises competitions, including the World Indoor Bowls Championships with other bowls associations. Its parent organisation is the Professional Bowls Association. History On 1 January 1997, under the then chairman Richard Corsie, the PBA created the World Bowls Tour (WBT) and after the 1997 championship replaced the World Indoor Bowls Council as the leading indoor organisation. The purpose of the World Bowls Tour was to set up and create championships and competitions to further the aims of the PBA. David Gourlay
David Gourlay is a Scottish (and former Australian) international lawn & indoor bowler from the Prestwick Bowling Club and Crookston Bowling Club. He is also a Commonwealth Games medal winning coach. Bowls career Gourlay, a Glaswegian, first took up the game aged 11 following the success of his father David Gourlay Sr. at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and his mother Sarah Gourlay at the 1985 World Outdoor Championships. He has won 15 World Bowls Tour Titles with the highlight being the World Indoor Singles title in 1996. He represented Scotland at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He is related to the Scottish footballers James Gourlay and Jimmy Gourlay. Stewart Anderson (bowls)
Stewart Anderson (born 23 July 1985) is a Scottish international bowls player and a world champion indoors. Bowls career He started bowling aged just 12 with Auchinleck Indoor Juniors and outdoor with Glaisnock Valley. Having previously been a beaten finalist in the 2010 World Championships (where he lost out to Greg Harlow) Anderson beat Paul Foster in the final match that ended 10-10, 10-9 to secure the 2013 World indoor title. In 2015 he won the triples gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. During the 2016 World Indoor Bowls Championship Anderson partnered up with Darren Burnett and the Scottish pair recorded their first Open Pairs title success. In 2018 he won the Scottish International Open. Later that season, Anderson became a two-time World Open singles champion, winning the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship. Jamie Chestney
Jamie Chestney (born 15 November 1986) is an English male international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career International achievements His first major international medal came in 2011 when he won the singles and triples gold medals at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. The following year he gained a bronze medal at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in the pairs competition with Graham Shadwell. Two years later he competed for England in the men's fours at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won a silver medal. He finished runner-up in the 2016 International Open and the following year won the Cooperative Funeralcare International Open. Nick Brett
Nick Brett (born 14 May 1974) is an English lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Brett bowls for the Huntingdon indoor bowls club and Brampton outdoor bowls club. He was ranked the indoor world number 1 in 2015 and 2016. and also won an outdoors National Title in 1999 and subsequent singles at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 2000. Brett's greatest achievement before 2016 was winning the 2014 World Indoor Bowls Championship Pairs title partnering Greg Harlow. It was during the 2016 World Indoor Bowls Championship that Brett became the World Singles Champion for the first time beating Robert Paxton in a competitive final. Robert Paxton (bowls)
Robert Paxton is an English international outdoor and indoor bowls player. Bowls career Robert is from Crediton, Devon and plays out of the Exonia club indoors and out of Crediton BC. and won the 2011 Scottish International Open. In 2013, he won two gold medals at the European Bowls Championships in Spain. In 2015 Paxton partnered Simon Skelton when they won the 2015 World Indoor Bowls Championship Pairs title and the 2015 world mixed pairs title with Marion Purcell and he held a career high world indoor ranking of 2 in 2015. Alex Marshall (bowls)
Alex "Tattie" Marshall (born 8 February 1967) is record breaking Scottish bowls player. Marshall plays at Gifford Bowls Club (outdoor) and East Lothian Indoor Bowling Club. Marshall began bowling at the age of eight supported by both his father and grandfather and first represented his country in 1988. He is a record breaking six-time World Indoor Singles Champion. He has eight World Indoor Pairs titles to his credit (six Open Pairs and two Mixed Pairs). Marshall has won seven World Outdoor Championship Gold medals (Pairs in 1992, 2000 and 2012, Fours in 1992, and Team in 1992, 1996 and 2004). Brett Wilkie
Brett Wilkie is an Australian international lawn bowler. Bowls career Wilkie came to prominence after winning the Australian national championship and qualifying for the 2009 World Singles Champion of Champions event, where he won the gold medal defeating Wayne Hogg of Scotland in the final. He was selected to play for Australia during the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi where he won a triples silver medal. Wilkie then won the gold medal in the fours with Aron Sherriff, Mark Casey and Wayne Ruediger during the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Adelaide and a silver medal in the triples. Paul James Foster (born 13 March 1973) is a multiple world bowls champion who lives in Troon, Scotland. He plays at Troon Portland (Outdoor) & Ambassador Prestwick (Indoor) bowling clubs. Bowling career Indoor career Foster is the second most prolific winner of the World Indoor Championship singles title, behind six-times winner, pairs partner and close friend Alex Marshall. The World Bowls Tour (WBT) is a limited company formed in September 1996 by the Professional Bowls Association, and the two major governing bodies for world flat green bowls, World Bowls and the World Indoor Bowls Council (WIBC). The primary object of WBT is to set up a series of premier bowls events at which the top players in the world can play. Robert Weale
Robert Arthur Weale (born in Hereford on 3 April 1963), is a Welsh international lawn and indoor bowls player. Weale is originally from Presteigne and was educated at John Beddoes School, but now lives in Hereford. In 2022, he was inducted into the Welsh Sports Hall of fame. Bowls career Weale made his international debut in 1982. He was the youngest competitor in the 1984 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Aberdeen, where he competed in the triples event. World Titles Weale's career-best performance came in January 2000, when he won the 2000 World Indoor Bowls Championship singles title at Potters. Just a few months later, Weale won the men's fours title at the 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship, in April 2000.
