Mario Robinson
Mario Andres Robinson (born 1970) is an American Painting, painter, pastellist, and Drawing, draftsman. Robinson was born in Altus, Oklahoma. At the age of 12 he moved with family to New Jersey. He was encouraged to develop his innate talent for the expression of visual art by a fifth grade teacher, and so began building what would soon become a prodigious body of work. Robinson studied at the Pratt Institute in New York City.From the beginning of his career, Robinson was influenced by the work of Degas, Rembrandt, Vermeer among others. He studied their techniques and elementally broke down their works. He later deconstructed the work of various contemporary American artists. Stephanie Deshpande
Stephanie Deshpande (born 1975) is a contemporary American painter, best known for her portraits and narrative paintings. She currently lives in northern New Jersey. Education Deshpande attended high school in Massachusetts, and completed a BFA with honors in painting at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1997. In 1996 she studied at the Ingbretson Studio in Framingham and was instructed in the Boston School method by Meg Mercier. She was awarded the Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship to attend the Yale Summer School of Music and Art in 1996. She continued her studies at the New York Academy of Art, earning her MFA in 1999. While attending NYAA, she studied under Vincent Desiderio and Steven Assael. She is an instructor at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey and at the Teaching Studios of Art on Long Island. Charleston Church Shooting
On June 17, 2015, a mass shooting occurred in Charleston, South Carolina, in which nine African Americans were killed during a Bible study at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Among those people who were killed was the senior pastor, state senator Clementa C. Pinckney. This church is one of the oldest black churches in the United States, and it has long been a center for organizing events which are related to civil rights. The morning after the attack, police arrested Dylann Roof in Shelby, North Carolina; a 21-year-old white supremacist who had attended the Bible study before he committed the shooting. He was found to have targeted members of this church because of its history and status. Roof was found competent to stand trial in federal court. Art Renewal Center
The Art Renewal Center (ARC) is a non-profit, educational organization, which hosts an online museum dedicated to realist art. The ARC was founded by New Jersey businessman, author, and art collector Fred Ross. Particular emphasis is given to nineteenth-century Salon painting. William-Adolphe Bouguereau is represented by more than 226 images on the site; Ross says that Bouguereau's work is accessed twice as often as any other artist on the site. Purpose The Art Renewal Center is devoted to the rehabilitation of late nineteenth-century academic painting.
