Marine Drive Academy
Marine Drive Academy (MDA) is a P-12 school in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. The school is located in the Halifax Regional Municipality and is a part of the Halifax Regional Centre for Education. It is located adjacent to its predecessor, Duncan MacMillan High School, and on the site of the former Sheet Harbour Consolidated School. Construction began in late 2017 and the building opened in September 2020. Avondale Construction was enlisted as the contractor, while Century Exteriors and FBM Architecture handled the exterior and interior design respectively. The structure of the building was influenced heavily by the surrounding landscape, and is designed to also act as a community hub. As of 2020, 256 students were enrolled in the school. Sheet Harbour is a rural area, rural community in Nova Scotia, Canada. It is located in the eastern reaches of the Halifax, Nova Scotia, Halifax Regional Municipality, approximately northeast of the central urban area of the municipality, concentrated on Downtown Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Dartmouth. K-1 is a professional kickboxing promotion established in 1993, well known worldwide mainly for its heavyweight division fights and Grand Prix tournaments. In January 2012, K-1 Global Holdings Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong, acquired the rights to K-1, and is the current organizer of K-1 events worldwide. Duncan MacMillan High School
Duncan MacMillan High School (DMHS) was a P-12 school in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was replaced by Marine Drive Academy. Duncan MacMillan High hosts grades primary–12, as well as a pre-primary program and teaches 249 students. It has the largest geographical area for bussing in the Halifax Regional School Board. As of 2017-18, the school's administrative team consisted of Principal Ronnie Reynolds and Vice Principal Troy Smith. In addition, there are 20 teaching staff and 12 support staff. Although DMHS is small in student population, it does provide the courses necessary for any post-secondary program. Throughout both junior and senior high, there is a continuing option for students to follow the Integrated French program in which French Language Arts (FLA) and social studies are taught in French, with the remaining courses being taught in English. Sheet Harbour Consolidated School
Sheet Harbour Consolidated School was a school located in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, which welcomed students from grades primary through six. The school was a peanut/nut safe school. In April 2008, Sheet Harbour achieved the Green School Award for the completion of 100 environmental projects. Each year the school had a Holiday/Christmas Concert and a Spring Concert. The children, with the help of the teachers, perform for the parents. Each class has a different performance usually following a theme. History This school was built in 1957. This school once hosted the high school students before Duncan MacMillan High School was built. Sheet Harbour Consolidated School also hosted some DMHS students when DMHS had to be closed and torn apart looking for the cause of an unexplained illness that some of the students had in 1997.
