Marie De Jonge
Eva Maria Alida de Jonge (1872-1951) was a Dutch painter. Biography De Jonge was born on 24 December 1872 in Amersfoort. She studied at the ''Akademie van beeldende kunsten (Den Haag)'' (Royal Academy of Art, The Hague) and the ''Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten'' (State Academy of Fine Arts). Her teachers included Lucien Simon and Nicolaas van der Waay. De Jonge's work was included in the 1939 exhibition and sale ''Onze Kunst van Heden'' (Our Art of Today) at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. De Jonge taught at the ''Internationaal schildersatelier'' in Amsterdam. Her students included Maria Anna Bleeker, Marianne Franken, Elise Itzkovitch-Kann, Gustave van Kan, Cornelia Rambonnet, and Victoire Wirix. The Rijksmuseum () is the national museum of the Netherlands dedicated to Dutch arts and history and is located in Amsterdam. Pulchri Studio
Pulchri Studio (Latin:"For the study of beauty") is a Dutch art society, art institution and art studio based in The Hague ('s-Gravenhage), Netherlands. This institute began in 1847 at the home of painter Lambertus Hardenberg. Since 1893 the club has its residence in the villa at Lange Voorhout in The Hague. Membership is made up of painters, sculptors, photographers and art lovers, with members selected by a committee. An artist's membership allows themt to exhibit their own works in the galleries of the Company. Guests have to be invited by members. Arti Et Amicitiae
Arti et Amicitiae (lat .: For Art and Friendship) is a Dutch artist's society founded in 1839, and located on the Rokin in Amsterdam. The Society (also called Arti for short) has played a key role in the Netherlands art scene and in particular in the Amsterdam art schools. It was and is to this day a hub for artists and art lovers in the city of Amsterdam. It is a private institution which supports artists, maintains social networks and offers a pension fund. Marianne Franken (11 March 1884 – 4 April 1945) was a Dutch people, Dutch painter. Biography Franken was born on 11 March 1884 in Amsterdam. She studied at the ''Internationaal schildersatelier (Amsterdam)'' (International painting studio). Franken was a member of, and exhibited with, the and Arti et Amicitiae. She also exhibited with the Amsterdamse Joffers. Her subjects included still lifes, portraits (particularly of children), and genre scenes from her Jewish neighborhood near the Prinseneiland river in Amsterdam. Her work was included in the 1939 exhibition and sale ''Onze Kunst van Heden'' (Our Art of Today) at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Onze Kunst Van Heden
Onze Kunst van Heden (Contemporary Artists/Our Art of Today) was an exhibition held in the winter of 1939 through 1940 at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Due to the threat of invasion in the years leading up to World War II, the Netherlands' government stored many items from the Rijksmuseum's permanent collection. The resulting empty gallery space was utilized by contemporary Dutch artists to exhibit and sell their art. It was organized by the director of the Rijksmuseum . The show was open to all artists, with each artist allowed to enter four pieces. 902 artists exhibited 3,200 works of art in 74 rooms and cabinets of the Rijksmuseum. Nicolaas Van Der Waay
Nicolaas van der Waay (1855–1936) was a Dutch decorative artist, watercolorist and lithographer. He worked in many genres, including stamp, coin and banknote designs. He is perhaps best known for the allegorical illustrations he created for the Golden Coach and a series of paintings depicting the lives of girls from the Amsterdam Orphanage. His work was also part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics.
