Maria Titarenko
Maria Sergeevna Titarenko (27 March 1917 – 26 September 2002) was an Azerbaijani Soviet opera singer of Ukrainian origin. She was awarded the title Honored Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1961). She is best known for voicing Gulchohra in the film " Arshin Mal Alan" (1945). Life Maria Titarenko was born on 27 March 1917 in Sevastopol, Russian Empire. At the age of 3, she became an orphan after her father died and her mother remarried living her and five other children. At the age of 14, Titarenko graduated from the seven-year school, where she studied the language of the Crimean Tatars. After that, she graduated from a factory school and began to work at the factory. Working at the factory Titarenko fulfilled 300% of the norm and nobody could break her record. In 1936, Titarenko married the head of one of the factory shops, Nikolai Naida who was soon recruited to the Baku Shipyard. Together with her husband, Titarenko came to Azerbaijan in 1937. Leyla Aghalar gizi Badirbeyli and Leyla Badirbeyova – (after marriage – Javanshirova; az, Leyla Ağalar qızı Bədirbəyli (Cavanşirova)); (1920–1999), Soviet and Azerbaijani actress of theatre and cinema, People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1959), laureate of the State Stalin Prize of the second degree (1946), member of the CPSU from 1945. She is buried in the Alley of Honor. Biography Leyla Badirbeyli was born on 8 January 1920 in Baku, in the family of Aghalar Badirbeyov, from the generation of Shamkir beys. In 1936, she became the soloist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of Azerbaijan, where she worked up until 1942. In 1942, on guidance of the Azerbaijan State Drama Theatre, named after Meshadi Azizbeyov's invitation, she began to perform on the stage of this theatre. ''The Snow Maiden'' (subtitle: A Spring Fairy Tale) ( rus, Снегурочка–весенняя сказка, Snegúrochka–vesénnyaya skázka, italic=yes ) is an opera in four acts with a prologue by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed during 1880–1881. The Russian libretto, by the composer, is based on the like-named play by Alexander Ostrovsky (which had premiered in 1873 with incidental music by Tchaikovsky). The first performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's opera took place at the Mariinsky Theatre, Saint Petersburg on 29 January 1882 ( OS; 10 February NS) conducted by Eduard Nápravník. ''Iolanta'', Op. 69, (russian: Иоланта, links=no ) is a lyric opera in one act by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. It was the last opera he composed. The libretto was written by the composer's brother Modest Tchaikovsky, and is based on the Danish play ' (''King René's Daughter'') by Henrik Hertz, a romanticised account of the life of Yolande de Bar. In the original Danish play, the spelling of the princess's name was "Iolanthe", later adopted for the otherwise unrelated Gilbert and Sullivan operetta of that name.
