Maria Reumert Gjerding
Maria Reumert Gjerding (born 3 August 1978 in Copenhagen) is a former Danish politician and the current president of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. She was a member of the Folketing The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands ... for the Red-Green Alliance political party from 2015 to 2018. Political career Gjerding was elected into the parliament of Denmark at the 2015 election where she received 2,287 votes. On 8 April 2018 she resigned her seat, after having been chosen as president of the Danish Society for Nature Conservation. Her seat in parliament was taken over by Øjvind Vilsholm. The Folketing ( da, Folketinget, ; ), also known as the Parliament of Denmark or the Danish Parliament in English, is the unicameral national legislature (parliament) of the Kingdom of Denmark—Denmark proper together with the Faroe Islands and Greenland. Established in 1849, until 1953 the Folketing was the lower house of a bicameral parliament, called the Rigsdag; the upper house was Landstinget. It meets in Christiansborg Palace, on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen. The Folketing passes all laws, approves the cabinet, and supervises the work of the government. It is also responsible for adopting the state's budgets and approving the state's accounts. As set out in the Constitution of Denmark, the Folketing shares power with the reigning monarch. North Zealand (Folketing Constituency)
North Zealand ( da, Nordsjælland) is one of the 10 multi-member constituencies of the Folketing, the national legislature of Denmark. The constituency was established in 2007 following the public administration structural reform. It consists of the municipalities of Allerød, Egedal, Fredensborg, Frederikssund, Furesø, Gribskov, Halsnæs, Helsingør, Hillerød, Hørsholm and Rudersdal. The constituency currently elects 10 of the 179 members of the Folketing using the open party-list proportional representation electoral system.
