Maria Margaretha Van Os
Maria Margaretha van Os (November 15, 1779 – November 17, 1862), was a 19th-century flower painter from the Northern Netherlands. Biography She was born in The Hague as the daughter of the painters Jan van Os and Susanna de la Croix. She was the younger sister of Pieter Gerardus van Os and became the older sister of Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os and Pieter Frederik van Os.Maria Margaretha van Os in the RKD Like her brothers, she was a pupil of her parents; her father was a landscape and still-life artist and her mother made pastel portraits. She is known for fruit and flower still lifes. From 1826 she was an honorary member of the Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. She died in The Hague. The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (State Academy of Fine Arts) was founded in 1870 in Amsterdam. It is a classical academy, a place where philosophers, academics and artists meet to test and exchange ideas and knowledge. The school supports visual artists with a two-year curriculum. The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten was the home of Amsterdam Impressionism, part of the international impressionist movement, and is known as the School of Allebé by art historians; August Allebé became the school's director in 1880. In French language the school was called "l'Académie Royale des Beaux Arts d'Amsterdam". Pieter Frederik Van Os
Pieter Fredrik van Os (8 October 1808 – 31 March 1892) was a painter from the Northern Netherlands. He was the son and pupil of Pieter Gerardus van Os and worked mainly in the spirit of his father.Pieter Fredrik van Os in the RKD Biography Van Os was born in Amsterdam, into a well-known family of artists. His grandparents were the painters Jan van Os and Susanna de la Croix. Besides his father, his aunt and uncle also became painters: Georgius and Maria Margaretha van Os. Van Os studied at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam, before traveling through Belgium and Germany. He settled in Haarlem in 1839. Like his father he specialized in painting animals, especially horses in all of their forms, as a work horse, draft horse or racehorse. In 1846 he became a board member of the Haarlem painting club "Kunst zij ons Doel". He died, aged 83, in Haarlem.
