Marc Belke
Marc Belke (born February 1, 1965 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian musician and former radio personality. He played guitar in the punk and alternative rock bands SNFU and The Wheat Chiefs, and sang lead vocals in the latter. He was later an on-air personality with Rogers based in Victoria, British Columbia. Musical career The youngest of five boys, Belke played in basement bands with his twin brother Brent as a teenager. The brothers formed their first gigging group, Live Sex Shows, in 1981. The band was fronted by singer Ken Chinn, whom they had met through the skateboarding subculture in Edmonton. Chris Walter. Chris Walter (born August 16, 1959) is a Canadian punk rock historian, novelist and founder of the independent publishing company GFY Press. His novels generally portray the darker aspects of humanity such as drug addiction, prostitution, and homelessness. Biography Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Chris was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He became involved with drugs at a very early age and was kicked out of school before leaving home at fifteen, working a succession of menial jobs and collecting welfare for long stretches. Forming his first punk rock band in 1980, Chris soon realized that he was never going to be a musician and began publishing a punk fanzine, ''Pages of Rage'', which gave him his first taste of creative writing, although he wouldn't complete his first novel, ''Beer'', until he was almost forty. CFBV
CFBV is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts a variety hits format and branded as The Moose at 870 AM in Smithers, British Columbia. The station is owned by Vista Radio. History CFBV originally began broadcasting in 1963 at 1230 AM under the ownership of CFBV Ltd. from the Corner of Queen Street and Highway 16. Several years later the station moved to the former School Board offices on Queen Street at First Avenue in Smithers. Throughout its history, CFBV has broadcast with 1000 watts of power. The station opened a rebroadcaster, CFLD, at 1400 AM with 250 watts of power in the Tweedsmuir Hotel in Burns Lake in November 1965. He has played in the early Canadian hardcore punk band The Unwanted, the skate punk band SNFU, and the industrial alternative rock band Econoline Crush. Career Fleming began his career in 1980 with the Winnipeg-based band The Unwanted, an early staple of Canadian hardcore punk. With Fleming on bass, The Unwanted issued several releases, including the ''Shattered Silence'' LP issued on BYO Records in 1984. The band broke up the next year. They reformed decades later with singer Norm Simm and new musicians. Following a move to Vancouver, Fleming played in several bands, including Grey Skies, with Devin Townshend. Melodic Hardcore
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. It generally incorporates fast rhythms, melodic and often distorted guitar riffs, and vocal styles tending towards shouting and screaming. Nevertheless, the genre has been very diverse, with different bands showcasing very different styles. Many pioneering melodic hardcore bands (such as Bad Religion and Descendents), have proven influential across the spectrum of punk rock, as well as rock music more generally.
