Manitoulin, Unorganized, Mainland, Ontario
Unorganized Mainland Manitoulin is a former unorganized area in the Canadian province of Ontario, encompassing the small mainland portion of the Manitoulin District which was not part of the municipality of Killarney. It was dissolved and annexed into Killarney in 2006. It comprised the geographic townships of Carlyle and Humboldt, as well as the unpopulated Indian reserve of Point Grondine. Manitoulin District
Manitoulin District is a district in Northeastern Ontario within the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1888 from part of the Algoma District. The district seat is in Gore Bay. It comprises Manitoulin Island primarily, as well as a number of smaller islands surrounding it, such as Barrie, Cockburn, and Great La Cloche islands. Previously it included the municipality of Killarney on the mainland, until this was transferred to Sudbury District in the late 1990s. Subsequently, more mainland portions were added to Killarney and these, together with Unorganized Mainland Manitoulin District, were also transferred to Sudbury District in 2006, about in all. Nickel Belt is one of two federal electoral districts serving the city of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. It has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1953. Nickel Belt (provincial Electoral District)
Nickel Belt is a provincial electoral district located in the Canadian province of Ontario. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. The district is located in Northern Ontario and includes much of the eastern and southern parts of the District of Sudbury, as well as most of Greater Sudbury outside the city's urban core. Communities include Lively, Onaping, Levack, Dowling, Chelmsford, Naughton, Azilda, Coniston, Wahnapitae, Garson, Val Caron, Val Thérèse, Hanmer and Capreol. Killarney is a municipality located on the northern shore of Georgian Bay in the Sudbury District of Ontario, Canada. Killarney is commonly associated with Killarney Provincial Park, which is a large wilderness park located to the east of the townsite which occupies much of the municipality's expanded boundary. In Canada, an Indian reserve (french: réserve indienne) is specified by the '' Indian Act'' as a "tract of land, the legal title to which is vested in Her Majesty, that has been set apart by Her Majesty for the use and benefit of a band." Point Grondine Park
Point Grondine Park is a First Nations-owned nature park on the northern shore of Lake Huron in Sudbury District, Ontario, which occupies the unpopulated historic Point Grondine 3 Indian reserve. It is a ceded reserve of the Wiikwemkoong First Nation, having been reserved under the terms of the Robinson Huron Treaty in 1850. The former Point Grondine First Nation abandoned the area in the 1940s, moving to the Wiikwemkoong territory on Manitoulin Island before fully amalgamating with the Wiikwemkoong band in 1968. The Point Grondine area then remained unoccupied and virtually unused by the band until the park was established in 2015. The park is the first phase in a planned Georgian Bay Coast Trail project, which will eventually see a 200-kilometre nature trail extending on indigenous-owned land from Point Grondine to Bayfield Inlet.
