Manitoba Provincial Road 357
Manitoba Provincial Road 357 is a provincial road in the southwestern section of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Route description PR 357 begins at PTH 10 just south of Erickson, and terminates at PTH 5 near the small community of Birnie. PR 357 is an east-west highway providing access to the unincorporated communities of Mountain Road and Hilltop, where it intersects with PR 262. Although the road also has two significant north-south jaunts, it is generally quite straight. The road does contain a few sharp curves, notably on its descent to its eastbound terminus with PTH 5. The route is paved for its entire length. The speed limit is 100 km/h (62.5 mph). Erickson is an unincorporated urban community in the Municipality of Clanwilliam – Erickson within the Canadian province of Manitoba that held town status prior to 1 January 2015. It is located on Highway 10 on 32-17-18W in south central Manitoba. The main industry of Erickson is agriculture. The community was originally established as a Canadian National railway point in 1905. When a post office was opened in 1908 it was known as Avesta. It was named after a town in south-central Sweden. Shortly after, the post office was moved near the railway station site which was named Erickson Station. The station had been named after the Postmaster, E. Albert Erickson. Hilltop, Manitoba
Hilltop is a rural community in the Municipality of Clanwilliam – Erickson and is a mixed agricultural area. Historically, the area was settled by Scandinavian immigrants, mainly from Sweden, starting in the 1880s. The community opened a post office in 1900 located on 19-17-17W and a one-room school was located on NE 24-17-18W. The other establishment which still is operational is a Baptist church founded by the early settlers and named after the locality. The Municipality of Clanwilliam – Erickson is a rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. History The municipality was incorporated on January 1, 2015 via the amalgamation of the RM of Clanwilliam and the Town of Erickson. It was formed as a requirement of ''The Municipal Amalgamations Act'', which required that municipalities with a population less than 1,000 amalgamate with one or more neighbouring municipalities by 2015. The Government of Manitoba initiated these amalgamations in order for municipalities to meet the 1997 minimum population requirement of 1,000 to incorporate a municipality. Provincial Trunk Highway 10 (PTH 10) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. PTH 10 begins at the International Peace Garden along the Canada–United States border near Boissevain. The highway runs north through Brandon, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas to the Saskatchewan boundary at Flin Flon. The speed limit is 100 km/h. PTH 10 is designated as the John Bracken Highway between the International Peace Garden and Riding Mountain National Park, and the Northern Woods and Water Route between Dauphin and The Pas. Provincial Trunk Highway 5 (PTH 5) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. The highway starts at the Hansboro–Cartwright Border Crossing on the Canada–United States border and ends at the Saskatchewan boundary west of Roblin. Besides Roblin, it passes through the communities of Cartwright, Glenboro, Carberry, Neepawa, McCreary, Ste. Rose Du Lac, Grandview, and Gilbert Plains along its route. The highway, in a section concurrent with PTH 10, bypasses the City of Dauphin. (PTH 5A / 10A does run through Dauphin.) The segment of PTH 5 between PTH 10 and Ste. Manitoba Provincial Road 262 is a provincial road in the western region of the Canadian province of Manitoba. Route description PR 262 begins at PTH 10/ PR 354 at Onanole, and terminates at PTH 10/ PTH 24 at Tremaine. From Onanole, it travels southeast before turning south and passing through the community of Scandinavia. The road then continues south for before reaching the village of Clanwilliam, intersecting PR 357 near Hilltop and eastbound PR 265 just north of Clanwilliam. After leaving Clanwilliam, PR 262 continues for to meet PTH 16A (Main Street) in Minnedosa, passing Minnedosa Lake which is located northeast of the town centre.
