Malta In The Eurovision Song Contest 1994
Malta participated at the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 in Dublin, Ireland. Their entry was "More than Love" performed by Chris and Moira. Before Eurovision National final The final was held on 5 February 1994 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, hosted by Lucienne Selvagi and John Bundy. At Eurovision Chris and Moira performed 12th on the night of the contest, following Romania and preceding Netherlands. At the close of the voting the song had received 97 points (including maximum 12 points from Bosnia and Herzegovina), placing 5th of 25. The Maltese jury awarded its 12 points to Slovakia. Chris And Moira
Chris & Moira were a Maltese duo, formed by Moira Stafrace and Christopher Scicluna. They were best known for representing Malta in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. Life and career Stafrace was born in Malta in 1970. At the age of 12 she started her singing career. She bought a guitar and she started to sing with many bands. She took part in numerous festivals where she won many awards. In 1992 she was given the award for Best Personality in the music industry of her country. In 1993 she met and fell in love with a guitarist, Chris Scicluna. Scicluna was born in Malta in 1959 and started music studies at the age of 8 and spent most of the 1980s freelancing in the United Kingdom. He recorded his first album in 1979, 'Starlights' as a singer composer with a band. In 1990 'Ever Changing Moods' was released by a band called Getting Closer. Mediterranean Conference Centre
The Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC, mt, Dar il-Mediterran għall-Konferenzi) is a Convention center, conference centre in Valletta, Malta. The building was built as a hospital in the 16th century by the Knights Hospitaller, Order of St. John, and it was known as the Sacra Infermeria or the Holy Infirmary ( mt, Il-Furmarija). It was known as the Grand Hôspital during the French occupation of Malta and during the British period was named as the Station Hospital. Renato Micallef (born 19 November 1951) is a Maltese pop singer. His full name is Nazzareno Alessandro Micallef Garrett. Renato has been active in the Maltese music scene since the age of 12. Renato has toured North America, Australia and the United Kingdom where his website claims he won an award for Singer Of The Year in 1980. In 1975, he represented Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in 12th place with Singing This Song.
