Malang (; ) is a landlocked List of regencies and cities of Indonesia, city in the Indonesian Provinces of Indonesia, province of East Java. It has a history dating back to the age of Singhasari, Singhasari Kingdom. The Malang Regency is a regency in East Java, Indonesia. Malang Regency is the second largest regency in East Java after Banyuwangi Regency, with a total area of 3,530.65 km2. Malang is rich in potential for agriculture, medicinal plants and tourism. The State University of Malang ( id, Universitas Negeri Malang, abbreviated as UM), formerly the Institute of Teacher Education and Educational Sciences of Malang ( id, Institut Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Malang, abbreviated as IKIP Malang), is one of the state universities in Indonesia. Located in Malang and Blitar, East Java, UM was established in October 18, 1954 as PTPG Malang, as School of Education of Airlangga University, making it one of the oldest teaching institutes in Indonesia. UM was separated from Airlangga University on 20 May 1964 to become IKIP Malang. In 1999, IKIP Malang formally changed its status from an institute to a state university. Sutiaji
Sutiaji (born 13 May 1964) is an Indonesian politician who is the mayor of Malang, East Java. Previously, he was a member of the city's legislative council and later deputy mayor of the city between 2013 and 2018, and briefly served as acting mayor in 2018 until his official inauguration as mayor. Early life Sutiaji was born in Lamongan on 13 May 1964, and he received his first nine years of education in madrasa there. He then entered the Bahrul Ulum pesantren in Jombang, before studying ''Tarbiyah'' (education) at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University Malang. Malang Station is a railway station in Malang City, East Java. The station is located at an altitude of approximately +444 meters amsl. It is the largest train station in Malang City. The existing building of Malang station was built in 1941 based on the work of J. van der Eb. The station is sometimes referred to as Malang Kotabaru Station to distinguish it from the original 1879 building of Malang station (not Malang Kotalama Station). Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport
Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport is a small class 1 commercial airport serving Malang, the second largest city in East Java province of Indonesia. This airport is named after Abdoel Rachman Saleh (1909–1947), an Indonesian aviator and physiologist whose aircraft was shot down by the Dutch while landing in Maguwo Airfield (now Adisucipto International Airport), Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, during the Indonesian National Revolution. The airport was temporarily closed in October 2009 due to numerous damage found in the runway, but has opened again after some repairs were done, as a result of Rp 130 million funding by three local authorities. Singhasari
Singhasari ( jv, ꦏꦫꦠꦺꦴꦤ꧀ꦱꦶꦔ꧀ꦲꦱꦫꦶ, translit=Karaton Singhasari or , id, Kerajaan Singasari) was a Javanese Hindu kingdom located in east Java between 1222 and 1292. The kingdom succeeded the Kingdom of Kediri as the dominant kingdom in eastern Java. The kingdom's name is cognate to Singosari district of Malang Regency, located several kilometres north of Malang city.
