The ''Making Ontario Open for Business Act'' (Bill 47, 2018; french: Loi de 2018 pour un Ontario ouvert aux affaires ) is a law in the province of Ontario that froze the minimum wage in the province and removing a number of protections of workers' rights. Summary The bill contained three schedules: Schedule 1 making a number of changes to the Employment Standards Act, 2000, Schedule 2 to the '' Labour Relations Act, 1995'', and Schedule 3 to the '' Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009''. The bill additionally repealed many of the provisions of the '' Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act, 2017''. Among the changes brought by Schedule 1 were: * Freezing the minimum wage in Ontario at $14,00, thus eliminating the planned increased in 2019 * Indexing the minimum wage to inflation, beginning in October 2020 * Eliminating personal emergency leave and replacing it with separate leave provisions for unpaid sick leave, family responsibility leave, and bereavement l ...
