The Alliance (; ; commonly styled as Aliancia–Szövetség or Szövetség–Aliancia) is a political party in Slovakia that was founded by merging three political parties representing the Hungarian minority: the Party of the Hungarian Community, Most–Híd, and MKÖ–MKS. The party was founded on 22 November 2019 as an electoral alliance to run in the 2020 parliamentary election and was called the Hungarian Community Co-operation (MKÖ–MKS; ; ). MKÖ–MKS consisted of the "Összefogás–Spolupatričnosť" movement, SMK–MKP, and the Hungarian Forum. As a result of the 2022 regional elections, the party has the largest factions in the county councils of the Trnava and Nitra regions. European People's Party
The European People's Party (EPP) is a European political party with Christian-democratic, conservative, and liberal-conservative member parties. A transnational organisation, it is composed of other political parties. Founded by primarily Christian-democratic parties in 1976, it has since broadened its membership to include liberal-conservative parties and parties with other centre-right political perspectives. On 31 May 2022, the party elected as its President Manfred Weber, who was also EPP's '' Spitzenkandidat'' in 2019. The EPP has been the largest party in the European Parliament since 1999 and in the European Council since 2002. It is also the largest party in the current European Commission. Új Szó ( en, New Word) is a Hungarian-language only daily newspaper published in Bratislava, Slovakia. It also publishes a weekly Sunday supplement titled Vasárnap ( en, Sunday, before 1990: ''Vasárnapi Új Szó''). History ''Új Szó'' was established by a party order on 1 December 1948. It originally started as a weekly magazine of the Hungarian branch of the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS) first printed on 15 December 1948, but quickly transformed into a daily newspaper which was first printed on 1 May 1949. The original banner of the newspaper read Workers of the world, unite!, but following a governmental order, it was changed (from 21 May 1951) to "daily newspaper of the Communist Party of Slovakia". In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town. Žilina Region
The Žilina Region ( sk, Žilinský kraj; pl, Kraj żyliński; hu, Zsolnai kerület) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions and consists of 11 districts ( okresy) and 315 municipalities, from which 18 have a town status. The region was established in 1923, however, in its present borders exists from 1996. It is a more industrial region with several large towns. Žilina is the region administrative center and there is a strong cultural environment in Martin. The Prešov Region, also Priashiv Region ( sk, Prešovský kraj, ; hu, Eperjesi kerület; uk, Пряшівський край) is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions and consists of 13 districts (okresy) and 666 municipalities, 23 of which have town status. Direction – Slovak Social Democracy
Direction – Slovak Social Democracy ( sk, Smer – slovenská sociálna demokracia, SMER–SSD), formerly and legally called Direction – Social Democracy ( sk, Smer – sociálna demokracia, SMER–SD), is a left-wing populist political party in Slovakia led by the former prime minister Robert Fico. Voice – Social Democracy ( sk, Hlas – sociálna demokracia, HLAS–SD) is a social-democratic political party in Slovakia. The party was founded in June 2020 and officially registered by the Ministry of the Interior in September 2020. ''Korzár'' ( Slovak: ''Corsair'') is a regional newspaper published in Košice, Slovakia. The paper has been in circulation since 1998. History and profile The newspaper was established in 1998. At the initial stage, the paper was named ''Korzo'' and was renamed later as ''Korzár''. It is headquartered and published in Košice. The paper was published in broadsheet format. Banská Bystrica Region
The Banská Bystrica Region ( sk, Banskobystrický kraj, ; hu, Besztercebányai kerület, ) is one of the eight regions of Slovakia. It is the largest region by area, and has a lower population density than any other region. The Banská Bystrica region was established in 1923; its borders were last adjusted in 1996. Regions Of Slovakia
Since 1949 (except 1990–1996), Slovakia has been divided into a number of ''kraje'' (singular ''kraj''; usually translated as "Regions" with capital R). Their number, borders and functions have been changed several times. There are eight regions of Slovakia and they correspond to the EU's NUTS 3 level of local administrative units.
