''Magic Mirror'' is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Pearl Charles. It was released on January 15, 2021, through Kanine Records. In a press release of the single, Charles explained: "Have you ever stuck with something long after it was time to let go? Pearl Charles (born May 11, 1991) is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. Her sound is a melding of 1960s rock and 1970s cosmic country. Education Pearl Charles earned a BFA in music from CalArts. Music Pearl Charles got her start as a musician at age 18 in a country duo called the Driftwood Singers, with Christian Lee Hutson. She then went on to join a garage rock band called the Blank Tapes as drummer. Charles began a solo project in 2012, and released her first solo record, a 2015 self-titled EP on Burger Records. According to ''Billboard'', Charles is a genre-blending artist in the style of Lana Del Rey and Jenny Lewis, with "subdued vocals and more uptempo, playful production". Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Kanine Records is an independent record label based in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York started at the end of 2002 by Lio and Kay Kanine. Their first release, ''NY: The Next Wave'', was a 20 track compilation featuring mostly unsigned and emerging acts from the area.
