Maccabi Ironi Ramat Gan ( he, מכבי עירוני רמת גן, formerly Ironi Ramat Gan) is a professional basketball club based in Ramat Gan in central Israel. The team currently plays in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, the top division of Israeli basketball. It plays at the Shalom Zisman Municipal sports Arena, which has a seating capacity for 1,400. History The Maccabi Ramat Gan basketball club was formed in 1946. Since 1968, it has been permanent in the first league. In 1972, it lost in the cup final to Maccabi Tel Aviv, 108–99, with Ramat Gan's star, Belgium-born Kamil Dirks, scoring a still-unbroken cup final record of 43 points. In the seasons 1971–72 and 1972–73, it finished second in the league. The same happened in the 1982–83 season. The club also took its first steps in the European Cup in the 1973–74 season. Joe Dawson (basketball)
Joe Dawson (Hebrew: ג'ו דאוסן; born May 16, 1960) is an American-Israeli former professional basketball player. He played high school basketball at Druid High School in his native Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and played four years of college basketball for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, leading the team in scoring and rebounding multiple times and was an all-conference selection. After going undrafted in the 1982 NBA draft, he started his professional career in the Continental Basketball Association, and was selected as an all-star in each of the three seasons he played there. After a brief experience in the USBL he moved abroad, playing in Venezuela and France (where he was the LNB Pro A top scorer). Earl "the Twirl" Williams (born March 24, 1951) is an American-Israeli former professional basketball player who in 1990 and 1991 was the top rebounder in the Israel Basketball Premier League. Early life and education Williams played high school basketball while attending Woodrow Wilson High School in Levittown, Pennsylvania. He played college basketball at Winston-Salem State University, with the Winston-Salem State Rams. Born in Queens, New York, he played high school basketball at Christ the King Regional High School and the Maine Central Institute and college basketball at St. John's University. Milton Wagner Jr. (born February 20, 1963) is an American basketball coach. After playing college basketball at Louisville, Wagner played in the NBA. He served as assistant coach for the UTEP Miners and the Auburn Tigers. Biography Wagner played high school basketball at Camden High School.
