MJM Music PL
MJM Music PL, is a Polish independent record label founded in 1990 in Warsaw by Polskie Radio journalist Andrzej Wojciechowski. In the early days, founders wife Małgorzata Maliszewska obtained licenses for albums by such artists as Pet Shop Boys, Tina Turner, Joe Cocker, The Rolling Stones and The Eurythmics among others, to be released in Poland. Soon later MJM Music PL represented in Poland major labels EMI, Warner Music Group, BMG, CBS and PolyGram. MJM Music PL at the time signed several home country artists such as Wilki, O.N.A., Myslovitz, Lech Janerka, and Renata Przemyk among others. In 1995 label was purchased by Sony Music Entertainment Poland. In 2003 Andrzej Wojciechowski with Piotr Mikołajczyk, former employee for EMI Music Poland bought MJM Music PL from Sony and started operating as an independent label. PolyGram
PolyGram N.V. was a multinational entertainment company and major music record label formerly based in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1962 as the Grammophon-Philips Group by Dutch corporation Philips and German corporation Siemens, to be a holding for their record companies, and was renamed "PolyGram" in 1972. The name was chosen to reflect the Siemens interest Polydor Records and the Philips interest Phonogram Records. The company traced its origins through Deutsche Grammophon back to the inventor of the flat disc gramophone, Emil Berliner. Katy Carr
Katy Carr is a British singer-songwriter and musician known for her songs about Polish history. A fan of the 1930s and 1940s, she plays vintage instruments and wears clothing and hairstyles from the period. Although she was born in England, she lived in Poland for the first five years of her life. Her album ''Paszport'', a tribute to those who fought in World War II, won Best Concept Album from the ''Independent Music Awards'' in 2014. In 2016 she was given Poland's Pro Patria Medal. Małgorzata Walewska (born 5 July 1965) is a Polish opera singer, dramatic mezzo-soprano. EMI Music Poland Sp. z o.o., was a Polish subsidiary of EMI Group Limited, it was founded in 1995 in Warsaw. Labels CEO was Piotr Kabaj. The label was founded in 1995 when EMI bought independent record label Kompania Muzyczna Pomaton (founded 1990). The purchase included rights for recordings by such artists as Tadeusz Woźniak, Jacek Wójcicki, Przemysław Gintrowski, Wolna Grupa Bukowina and Magda Umer among others. In 2012 EMI was sold to Universal Music Group. The European Union required UMG to sell several owned labels to other parties, including Parlophone and EMI Music Poland, with Warner Music Group buying most of those labels in 2013. Sony Music Entertainment Poland Sp. z o.o. (SMEP) is a Polish subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. It was founded in 1995 in Warsaw. The label's CEO is Kazimierz Pułaski. The label was founded after Sony Music Entertainment took over the catalogue of MJM Music PL in late 1995. In 2003, MJM Music PL split from SME Poland and has since run as an independent label. Myslovitz is a Polish rock band. The band take their name from their industrial hometown of Mysłowice in the Upper Silesia region of southern Poland. Band history Guitarist and vocalist Artur Rojek started the band in 1992 as "The Freshmen", taking the initial name from the 1990 film '' The Freshman'', starring Marlon Brando and Matthew Broderick, indicating a fascination with cinema that would become a characteristic feature throughout the band's career.
