MAN 18.220
The MAN 18.220 is a model of low-entry single-decker bus chassis manufactured by MAN Truck & Bus between 1998 and 2017, predominantly for the United Kingdom and Ireland. Over the course of nearly two decades of production, more than 1,000 were produced. The model was introduced as the MAN 18.220 in October 1998 as one of the first low-floor buses on the market, with the first examples being delivered to Stagecoach Oxfordshire. The vast majority were constructed with Alexander ALX300 bodywork for Stagecoach Group, who ordered more than 500 ALX300s in total between 1998 and 2007 as the predominant low-floor single-decker bus in their fleet. In addition, a small number of 18.220s were produced for independent operators with Ikarus Polaris and Marcopolo Viale bodywork, primarily in the United Kingdom and in Ireland respectively. Stagecoach in Oxfordshire is the trading name of Thames Transit Ltd. It is a bus operator serving the county of Oxfordshire, England. Since 1997 has been a subsidiary of Stagecoach Group, and since February 2021 it has been part of Stagecoach West, managed from the latter's headquarters in Gloucester. East Lancs Kinetec
The East Lancs Kinetec is a type of low-floor bus body for single- and double-decker MAN Truck & Bus chassis. Both variants were launched at Euro Bus Expo 2006. Kinetec (single decker) The standard Kinetec is a single-decker bus body that appears to have been influenced by the Optare Sigma body in styling and construction. Unlike the Sigma though it is of low floor design. Reviews from its launch in Euro Bus Expo 2006 were very poor. Like the Scania OmniTown the bus uses the East Lancs Esteem body, but with the chassis maker's (MAN's) Lion's City front. Stagecoach West Scotland ordered ten Kinetecs on MAN 18.240 chassis to join its existing fleet of older Alexander ALX300-bodied MAN 18.220s. Konectbus is a bus operator based in Dereham in Norfolk, England. It is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group and forms part of Go East Anglia. History Konectbus was formed in 1999 when the Saham Toney depot of Norfolk Green was purchased from with four coaches, originally trading as Konect. The company moved out of coach operations and into tendered bus services. In 2003, the company was renamed Konectbus. In 2004, the depot was relocated to Toftwood. Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fuel gas mainly composed of methane (CH4), compressed to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure. It is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of , usually in cylindrical or spherical shapes. CNG is used in traditional petrol/internal combustion engine vehicles that have been modified, or in vehicles specifically manufactured for CNG use: either alone (dedicated), with a segregated liquid fuel system to extend range (dual fuel), or in conjunction with another fuel ( bi-fuel).
