Lyari Town
Lyari Town ( sd, لیاری ٽاؤن , ur, ) is named after the historic locality of Lyari. Lyari Town was the smallest borough (called "town" in Karachi) by area, but also the most densely populated one. Lyari Town was formed in 2001 as part of The Local Government Ordinance 2001, and was subdivided into 11 Union councils. The town system was disbanded in 2011, and Lyari Town was re-organized as part of Karachi South in 2015. Location It was bordered by the boroughs of SITE Town to the north across the Lyari River, Jamshed Town and Saddar Town to the east, and Kemari Town to the west across Karachi Harbour. Towns In Karachi
Karachi, Pakistan was a federation of eighteen autonomous boroughs, called "Towns," that made up the City District of Karachi from 2001 until 2011. Under this now-defunct system, Karachi had a local government system, with a mayor empowered to make decisions in regards to city-planning and administration of local services. The system was abolished in 2011, and Karachi was divided into 5 City District Municipal Corporations, with a 6th formed in 2013. Each Municipal Corporation now has its own Chairman and Deputy Chairman. Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project (LERP) is a civic project in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan to provide replacement housing in developed suburbs for people displaced by the construction of the Lyari Expressway. Lyari Expressway ( ur, , sd, لیاری بزرگرہ) is a 38 km City Districts of Pakistan, city district Expressways of Pakistan, expressway constructed along the Lyari River in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. History The expressway was expected to be completed by August 2017, with a formal inauguration ceremony to be held on 14 August 2017. The project had been delayed for more than 15 years due to the lack of federal funding and no interest shown by the Sindh provincial Government. After the High Court deadline, Lyari Expressway completion date was finally announced. Karachi Division ( ur, ) is an administrative division of the Sindh Province of Pakistan. There are seven districts of Karachi. History In December 1960 Lasbela became a separate district and was placed to form Karachi-Bela division. Kemari Town
Keamari Town ( ur, ) lies in the southern part of the city that was named after the historic seaside municipality of Keamari. Kemari Town was formed in 2001 as part of The Local Government Ordinance 2001, and was subdivided into 11 union councils. The town system was disbanded in 2011, and Kemari Town was re-organized as part of Karachi West District in 2015. In 2020, Keamari District was carved out from Karachi West District. So Kemari Town ended up being part of Kemari District. Location Kemari Town comprised the western parts of Karachi, including the Port of Karachi and an extensive coastline of sandy beaches, small islands and Mangrove forests.
