Luis Jacob
Luis Jacob (born 1971) is an artist, writer, curator and educator living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Life and work Jacob was born in Lima, Peru and moved to Canada with his family when he was ten. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1996. The Arms Of His 'Ill'
''The arms of his "ill"'' is the title of a 10-inch EP by the band The Hidden Cameras. The EP was released in 2004 on the Berkeley, California-based label, Absolutely Kosher. It was later re-released as a CD also. All songs were written, performed and recorded by Joel Gibb. The EP features Lex Vaughn (drums on #2 and #5), Owen Pallett (viola on #6) and Michael Olsen (cello on #6). All other instruments were played by Joel Gibb. It was mixed by Ohad Benchetrit and Joel Gibb. The arms of his "ill" features artwork by five different artists. The front cover painting is by Paul P., and the back cover drawing is by G.B. Jones. The front insert is by Will Munro and the back insert by Daryl Vocat. Documenta
''documenta'' is an exhibition of contemporary art which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany. The ''documenta'' was founded by artist, teacher and curator Arnold Bode in 1955 as part of the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) which took place in Kassel at that time. It was an attempt to bring Germany up to speed with modern art, both banishing and repressing the cultural darkness of Nazism. This first ''documenta'' featured many artists who are generally considered to have had a significant influence on modern art (such as Picasso and Kandinsky). The more recent editions of the event feature artists based across the world, but much of the art is site-specific. Frank Rynne
Frank Rynne is an Irish-born singer, record producer, art curator, film-maker, writer, and historian. He has played in three bands Those Handsome Devils in 1984, The Baby Snakes (1985-1994) and Islamic Diggers (1996- ). He has produced three CDs of Moroccan folk music by the Master Musicians of Joujouka. In 1992 Rynne co-organised The Here to Go Show, an international art show featuring the works of William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin and, with fellow organisers Joe Ambrose and Terry Wilson, co-wrote ''Man from Nowhere''. He co-produced the CD ''10%: file under Burroughs'' (1996). Early years Rynne first came to national prominence in Ireland playing rhythm guitar with Those Handsome Devils, a Dublin-based rockabilly band with a large national following. Merrill Nisker (born 11 November 1966), better known by her stage name Peaches, is a Canadian electroclash musician and producer. Born in Ontario, Peaches began her musical career in the 1990s as part of a folk trio, Mermaid Cafe. In 1995, she established a rock band, the Shit. That year she also released her first solo album, '' Fancypants Hoodlum''. After moving to Berlin, Germany, she was signed to the Kitty-Yo label and released her second album, '' The Teaches of Peaches'' (2000). ''Mississauga Goddam'' is a 2004 album by The Hidden Cameras. The title is an allusion to Nina Simone's civil rights anthem "Mississippi Goddam" (from the album '' Nina Simone in Concert''), suggesting suburbia (Mississauga is a suburb of Toronto) as the real battleground for LGBT equality.
