Lot 8 is a township in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is part of Halifax Parish. Lot 8 was awarded to Arnold Nisbett (M.P.) in the 1767 land lottery, passed to William Kilpatrick and Benjamin Todd in 1775, and to Todd's heirs in 1783. It is known for the West Point Lighthouse at Cedar Dunes Provincial Park in West Point. It is also known for approximately 55 large windmills, operated by the French company Suez Energy, which is used to create electricity for sale in New England. West Point, Prince Edward Island
West Point is a cape and an unincorporated community located in the southwestern corner of Prince Edward Island, Canada. ''West Point Lighthouse'', a square tapered tower, was built in 1875 by the federal Department of Marine. The West Point Lighthouse Inn, Museum and Restaurant was established in 1984. The West Point Development Corporation, a non-profit organization, maintains the lighthouse as a navigational aid beacon, although the living quarters of the lighthouse are now used as a unique country inn and museum. This lighthouse was first lit on May 21, 1876. Cedar Dunes Provincial Park is located at West Point and provides a supervised public beach for swimming. West Cape is a cape and an unincorporated community located at the westernmost extremity of Prince Edward Island, Canada. West Cape is the westernmost point of Prince Edward Island, as opposed to West Point, which lies several kilometres to the south and slightly east. West Cape Wind Farm The largest wind farm in Atlantic Canada is centered in West Cape, extending north to Point Wolfe and south to West Point, for a distance of approximately 10 kilometers. Encompassing an area of about 25 square kilometers, the wind farm consists of 55 turbines producing 99 megawatts of power, surpassing the Kent Hills Wind Farm in New Brunswick by 3 megawatts. While about 10% of the power is sold to the city of Summerside, the rest is exported through New Brunswick to New England markets.
