List Of Soviet Records In Athletics
The following are the national records in athletics for the Soviet Union. These records were maintained by the Soviet Athletics Federation during the country's existence until its dissolution in 1991. The Soviet Union coincided with a successful period in athletics for the region, resulting in many national records being world and European records as well. Athletes from any of the Republics of the Soviet Union were eligible for national records. Many of the records have not been improved upon since by athletes from the post-Soviet states. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence. Rieti Meeting
The Rieti Meeting is an annual athletics event at the Stadio Raul Guidobaldi in Rieti, Italy that takes place in late August or early September. Previously one of the IAAF Grand Prix events, it is now part of the IAAF World Challenge. It was first organized in 1971 based on an idea by Sandro Giovannelli, today's member of the IAAF Competition Commission. Valeriy Aleksandrovich Abramov (22 August 1956, Yertsevo, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia – 14 September 2016, Moscow, Russia) was a long-distance runner from the Soviet Union. Mikhail Antonovich Dasko (russian: Михаил Антонович Дасько; born 26 January 1961) is a Russian former long-distance runner who competed for the Soviet Union and later Russia. The Memorial Van Damme is an annual athletics event at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, that takes place in late August or early September. Previously one of the IAAF Golden League events, it is now the final event of the Diamond League, along with Weltklasse Zürich. It was first organized in 1977 by a group of journalists in honour of Ivo Van Damme, a Belgian double medal winner at the Montreal Olympics who was killed the previous year in a car accident at the age of 22. Igor Lotaryov
Igor Lotaryov (russian: И́горь Лотарёв; born 30 August 1964) is a Russian former Soviet Union, Soviet male middle-distance runner who competed mainly in the 1500 metres. He set his lifetime best of 3:34.49 minutes for the event in Brussels in 1985. He made his international debut as a under-20 athletics, junior athlete, running in the Soviet teams at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 1982 and 1983. He won his first international medal at the 1983 European Athletics Junior Championships, finishing second in the 1500 m behind East German Maik Dreissigacker. Sports Review
''Sports Review'' was an early British television programme, produced by the BBC and broadcast by their BBC Television Service during the late 1930s. It was the first regular sports programme to be transmitted by television. The programme was presented by Howard Marshall, who was a well known BBC Radio presenter, and transmitted once per month. Each edition would endure for twenty minutes and featured Marshall reviewing notable sporting events that had occurred during the past month and interviewing sportsmen and women.
