Below is a list of PAX events. This list includes the annual events PAX East, PAX West, PAX South, PAX Australia, and PAX Dev. 2000s 2004 On April 12, 2004, the authors of ''Penny Arcade'' announced PAX, the ''Penny Arcade'' Expo. PAX 2004 was a two-day event held at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Washington from August 28–29, which they hoped would turn into an annual event. Several exhibitors, including Warner Bros., Microsoft, Rooster Teeth and Ubisoft, showcased videos and playable demos of their upcoming games at PAX 2004. Microsoft allowed attendees to experience a multiplayer level of '' Halo 2'' months before it hit stores in addition to a number of other Xbox games, while Ubisoft showed '' Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory'' and ''Ghost Recon 2''. PAX (event)
PAX (originally known as Penny Arcade Expo) is a series of gaming culture festivals involving tabletop, arcade, and video gaming. PAX is held annually in Seattle, Boston and Philadelphia in the United States; and Melbourne in Australia. PAX was previously held annually in San Antonio in the United States. PAX was originally created in 2004 by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik, the authors of the ''Penny Arcade (webcomic), Penny Arcade'' webcomic, because they wanted to attend a show exclusively for gaming. Halo (video Game Series)
''Halo'' is a military science fiction media franchise, originally developed by Bungie and currently managed and developed by 343 Industries, part of Microsoft's Xbox Game Studios. The series launched in 2001 with the first-person shooter video game '' Halo: Combat Evolved'' and its tie-in novel, '' The Fall of Reach''. The latest main game, ''Halo Infinite'', was released in 2021. ''Combat Evolved'' started life as a real-time strategy game, before morphing into a first-person shooter and releasing as an exclusive on Microsoft's new Xbox video game console after Bungie was acquired by the company. MC Frontalot
Damian Hess (born December 3, 1973), better known by his stage name MC Frontalot, is an American rapper and web designer. Hess began releasing music as MC Frontalot in 1999. His first successes came through Song Fight!, an online songwriting and recording competition, where he became known for consistently beating opponents. Throughout his history at Song Fight!, he has never lost a competition as MC Frontalot, although he has entered only seven entries in that name. In one such song fight, entitled "Romantic Cheapskate", he likens Song Fight! to a neglected lover who favors him regardless of how he treats her. Martin Leung () is an American pianist. He plays classical music and is known as Video Game Pianist. He gained recognition for playing video game music on the piano, both in concert venues and in online videos. In July 2004, a video of him playing the Super Mario Bros. theme, ''Super Mario Bros.'' theme blindfolded became viral video, viral. Leung makes YouTube videos, and as of August 2020, has over 102,000 subscribers and 25.67 million total views. Personal life Born in Hong Kong to Chinese and Japanese parents, Leung moved to California when he was three years old. After being noticed imitating his sister playing, he was enrolled piano lessons at the age of 4. Leung placed first twice at the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, once in 1998 and once in 2000, and placed third at the Eighth Annual Oberlin International Piano Competition in 2002. Christopher Brendan Ward IV, better known by the stage name mc chris (stylized in all lower case), is an American rapper, voice actor, comedian, and writer. He is known for his high-pitched voice and for combining his "geek" background with the "gangsta rap" image which resulted in the genre of nerdcore. He has released ten albums, five EPs, one re-release and a tenth anniversary edition of his recordings with the Lee Majors. Early life Ward was born in Libertyville, Illinois. The NESkimos
The NESkimos is an independent American video game music cover band from St. Augustine, Florida. It is known for songs based on video game music, and covers of songs from popular television shows and movies. The name is a portmanteau combining the initials of the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) with the word Eskimos. This is a nod both to the practice of third-wave ska bands in the early 1990s fabricating band names that somehow involve the word "ska" and to the DOS-based Nintendo emulator NESticle, which the band's founder Dr. Wily credits as giving him the idea to cover NES music. It is a video game cover band that, rather than try and recreate songs note-for-note, opt to artistically explore and expand upon the songs they cover, via creating additional parts (such as their cover of Grape Garden from ''Kirby's Adventure'') or creating lyrics (such as their cover of Norfair from '' Metroid''). Minibosses is an American progressive rock band originally from Northampton, Massachusetts and now located in Phoenix, Arizona. They are known for their video game music covers, which are instrumental rock variations of the theme music from classic Nintendo video games such as '' Mega Man'', '' Metroid'', and '' Castlevania''. The ''Phoenix New Times'' awarded Minibosses their ''best cover band'' award in 2006. History From 1997 to 1999, guitarist Aaron Burke and drummer Matt Wood played in Jenova Project, one of the earliest video game cover bands, along with other friends from the same dorm at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In January 2000, Burke and Wood recruited bassist Ben Baraldi to form Minibosses. Leet (or "1337"), also known as eleet or leetspeak, is a system of modified spellings used primarily on the Internet. It often uses character replacements in ways that play on the similarity of their glyphs via reflection or other resemblance. Additionally, it modifies certain words based on a system of suffixes and alternate meanings. There are many dialects or linguistic varieties in different online communities. ''Pong'' is a table tennis–themed twitch arcade sports video game, featuring simple two-dimensional graphics, manufactured by Atari and originally released in 1972. It was one of the earliest arcade video games; it was created by Allan Alcorn as a training exercise assigned to him by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell, but Bushnell and Atari co-founder Ted Dabney were surprised by the quality of Alcorn's work and decided to manufacture the game.
