Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. It occupies the Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East; it shares its sole land border with Saudi Arabia to the south, with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. A light characteristic is all of the properties that make a particular navigational light identifiable. Graphical and textual descriptions of navigational light sequences and colours are displayed on nautical charts and in Light Lists with the chart symbol for a lighthouse, lightvessel, buoy or sea mark with a light on it. Different lights use different colours, frequencies and light patterns, so mariners can identify which light they are seeing. Halul Island
Halul Island ( ar, جَزِيرَة حَالُول, Jazīrat Ḫālūl) is one of the most important islands belonging to the State of Qatar. Lying about northeast of Doha, it serves as a storage area and loading terminal for oil from the surrounding offshore fields. One of the main bases for the Qatari Navy is located in Halul. The Coasts and Borders Security also have a base of operations on the island. It was frequented by pearling boats in the early 1900s. Ras Matbakh
Ras Matbakh ( ar, راس مطبخ, Ra’s al Maţbakh) is a settlement in Qatar located in the municipality of Al Khor. It consists of a cape extending into the Persian Gulf. Large concentrations of mangroves (''Avicennia marina'') are located off its coast. It is located to the northeast of Al Khor City and to the southeast of Al Thakhira. Etymology "Ras" in Arabic means "head", in this context it is being used to refer to a headland. On the other hand, "matbakh" is translated as "kitchen". Al Ghariyah
Al Ghariyah ( ar, القارية) is a village on the northeast coast of Qatar located in the municipality of Ash Shamal. It was founded in 1885 by settlers from the town of Al Wakrah. It was a site of contention between Qatari tribes allied with the Ottomans and Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani. A number of ancient cup-marks and rock engravings were discovered in Al Ghariyah. Etymology The name "Ghariyah" is derived from the Arabic word for cave, "ghar". It was so named because the area contains many mountains with small caves. Geography Because of Al Ghariyah's precise location on the coast, in the past its inhabitants lacked direct access to the groundwater. Moreover, the water that could be obtained was saline.
