''Lilium'' () is a genus of herbaceous flowering plants growing from bulbs, all with large prominent flowers. They are the true lilies. Lilies are a group of flowering plants which are important in culture and literature in much of the world. Lillian Chrystall
Lillian Jessie Chrystall (née Laidlaw; 1 March 1926 – 24 February 2022) was a New Zealand architect. She was the first woman to receive a national New Zealand Institute of Architects award. Biography Chrystall was born in the Auckland suburb of Herne Bay on 1 March 1926, one of three children of businessman Robert Laidlaw and American-born Lillian Viola Irene Laidlaw (née Watson). One of her brothers was Lincoln Laidlaw, who founded the New Zealand toy manufacturing company, Lincoln Industries. She was raised in Herne Bay, and was educated at Bayfield School and Auckland Girls' Grammar School. Chrystall studied architecture at the University of Auckland and after graduating was appointed the School of Architecture's first female instructor. Lilian Rachel Greenwood (born 26 March 1966) is a British Labour Party politician serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nottingham South since 2010, and the Opposition Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Commons since 2021. Lillian Greene-Chamberlain (born 1941) is an American educator and former track and field athlete. Since she began running at the age of 16 in 1957, she has had considerable success as an athlete. She was the first U.S. national champion in the 440-yard run indoors, the first African-American woman to represent the U.S. in the 400m and 800m in international competitions, a three-time U.S. national champion and American record holder, a Pan American Games champion, and a three-time U.S. All-American national team member. In 2007, she was named one of the 100 Most Influential Sports Educators in America by Business Wire. She served on the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports from 2006 to 2008.
