Liberty Times
The ''Liberty Times'' is a national newspaper published in Taiwan. Founded by Lin Rong-San, it is published by the Liberty Times Group, which also publishes '' Taipei Times'', an English language newspaper . The newspaper was first published on 17 April 1980, as Liberty Daily, before adopting its current name in 1987. It is one of the four most influential newspapers in Taiwan, the other three being the '' Apple Daily'', the '' China Times'', and the ''United Daily News ''United Daily News'' (UDN; ) is a newspaper published in Taiwan. Taipei (), officially Taipei City, is the capital and a special municipality of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Located in Northern Taiwan, Taipei City is an enclave of the municipality of New Taipei City that sits about southwest of the northern port city of Keelung. A broadsheet is the largest newspaper format and is characterized by long vertical pages, typically of . Other common newspaper formats include the smaller Berliner and tabloid–compact formats. Pan-Green Coalition
The pan-Green coalition, pan-Green force or pan-Green groups is a nationalist political coalition in Taiwan (Republic of China), consisting of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Taiwan Statebuilding Party (TSP), Taiwan Solidarity Union (TSU), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Green Party Taiwan, and Taiwan Constitution Association (TCA). The platform of the New Power Party is also very closely aligned with all the other Pan-Green parties. Lin Rong-San
Lin Rong-san (; 27 May 1939 – 28 November 2015) was a Taiwanese politician, publisher and businessman. He was the founder of Union Bank of Taiwan, and the publisher of '' Liberty Times'' and ''Taipei Times''. Career He won election to the Legislative Yuan in 1975, and was named Vice President of the Control Yuan in 1992, but stepped down to focus on the ''Liberty Times''. In June 2008, ''Forbes'' magazine ranked him as the seventh richest of Taiwan, with a net worth of US$2.7 billion. Lin fell to eighth on the same list in 2010, then slid to tenth in 2011. The ''Taipei Times'' is the only printed daily English-language newspaper in Taiwan, and the third established there. Online competitors include the state-owned '' Focus Taiwan'' and '' Taiwan News''; '' The China Post'' was formerly a competitor but today is mostly non-operational. English Language
English is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family, with its earliest forms spoken by the inhabitants of early medieval England. The ''China Times'' (, abbr. ) is a daily Chinese-language newspaper published in Taiwan. It is one of the four largest newspapers in Taiwan. It is owned by Want Want, which also owns TV stations CTV and CTiTV. History The ''China Times'' was founded in February 1950 under the name ''Credit News'' (), and focused mainly on price indices. The name changed on January 1, 1960 to ''Credit Newspaper'' (), a daily with comprehensive news coverage. ''United Daily News'' (UDN; ) is a newspaper published in Taiwan. It is considered to support the pan-Blue Coalition in its editorials. History UDN was founded in 1951 by Wang Tiwu as a merger of three newspapers, ''Popular Daily'' (全民日報), ''National'' (民族報), and the ''Economic Times'' (經濟時報). The three newspapers formally merged in 1953. In terms of political orientation, the ''United Daily News'' is regarded as taking an editorial line that supports the pan-Blue Coalition.
