Latin American Union Of News Agencies
The Latin American Union of News Agencies (Spanish: Unión Latinoamericana de Noticias), or ULAN, is an alliance of news agencies based in Latin America. It was formed in Caracas, Venezuela, in 2011. Latin America or * french: Amérique Latine, link=no * ht, Amerik Latin, link=no * pt, América Latina, link=no, name=a, sometimes referred to as LatAm is a large cultural region in the Americas where Romance languages — languages derived from Latin — are predominantly spoken. The term was coined in the nineteenth century, to refer to regions in the Americas that were ruled by the Spanish, Portuguese and French empires. The term does not have a precise definition, but it is "commonly used to describe South America, Central America, Mexico, and the islands of the Caribbean." In a narrow sense, it refers to Spanish America plus Brazil (Portuguese America). Caracas
Caracas (, ), officially Santiago de León de Caracas, abbreviated as CCS, is the capital and largest city of Venezuela, and the center of the Metropolitan Region of Caracas (or Greater Caracas). Caracas is located along the Guaire River in the northern part of the country, within the Caracas Valley of the Venezuelan coastal mountain range (Cordillera de la Costa). The valley is close to the Caribbean Sea, separated from the coast by a steep 2,200-meter-high (7,200 ft) mountain range, Cerro El Ávila; to the south there are more hills and mountains. Agência Brasil (ABr.) is the national public news agency, run by the Brazilian government. The agency was founded in 1990 and it's part of the public media corporation Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), created in 2007 to unite two government media enterprises Radiobrás and TVE (Televisão Educativa). It is publishing contents under CC-BY. ABr is one of the most important Brazilian news agencies, that feeds thousands of regional newspapers and websites throughout Brazil but also national media outlets like Estadão, O Globo, Folha de S.Paulo, UOL and Terra and according to its CEO, reaches more than 9 million people each month. The Public News Agency of Ecuador and South America (Andes) ( es, Agencia Pública de Noticias del Ecuador y Suramérica (ANDES)) is the official digital information service of the Ecuadorian State. Agencia Venezolana De Noticias
Agencia Venezolana de Noticias (AVN) is the national news agency of Venezuela. It is part of the Ministry of Popular Power for Communication and Information (MINCI), but is run as an autonomous service. It reports on national and regional issues, as well as on Latin America in general. History AVN was re-founded in 2005 by the Ministry of Communication and Information (MCI) as the ''Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias'' (ABN). Its predecessor was the news agency Venpres, which had been founded on 23 May 1977. In October 2008, Venezuelan minister Andrés Izarra declared in an interview at Radio Nacional de Venezuela that the ABN would be converted into a state owned corporation under the name ''Agencia Venezolana de Noticias''. He stated this was the result of an investigation about the working conditions, and that rebranding the agency should increase the chances of ABN employees on the job market. Latin (, or , ) is a classical language belonging to the Italic branch of the Indo-European languages. Caribbean Media Corporation
The Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) is a Barbados-based centralised content-provider for the various Caribbean media houses in the region. Formed in June 2000, through the merger of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) and the Caribbean News Agency (CANA). The Caribbean Media Corporation mainly serves as a regional clearinghouse of regional news and information in the countries of CARIFORUM. In addition to the CMC's regional media stake-holders, the CMC also caters to several International associate media organisations. Operationally the CMC organisation is predominantly funded through contributions of the regional media houses involved. However, in 2004, the Government of Barbados provided a home for the CMC with the creation of the Caribbean Media Centre in a government-owned office complex on an industrial estate.
