Lars Adaktusson
Lars Göran Peter Adaktusson (born 6 August 1955) is a Swedish politician for the Christian Democrats. He was elected Member of the Riksdag in the 2018 general election. Prior to that, he was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Early career An employee of public broadcaster ''Sveriges Television'' (SVT) for many years, Adaktusson has worked both as a reporter and a news anchor for the nightly news show ''Aktuellt'', and has in addition also been stationed as a foreign correspondent in Vienna, Washington DC, and in Amman. Member of the European Parliament Adaktusson was elected as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in the 2014 European Parliament elections in Sweden. He has since been serving on the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and the Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI). ''Aktuellt'' (literally "current; topical" or "actual") is a Swedish nightly news programme produced by Sveriges Television (SVT) and broadcast on its second channel, SVT2 in Sweden. It was first broadcast on 2 September 1958. With the start of TV 2 (forerunner of SVT2) in 1969, the ''Aktuellt'' brand disappeared but was revived in 1972 when TV1 began airing two main bulletins at 6pm and 9pm. The 6pm bulletin was moved to SVT2 in 1997, followed on 15 January 2001 by the 9pm edition. The year before, editorial responsibility for ''Aktuellt'', ''Rapport'' (SVT1's news programme), and SVT's news channel, SVT24, was unified; nevertheless, the name "Aktuellt" continues to be used to designate SVT2's news programmes. Genocide is the intentional destruction of a people—usually defined as an ethnic, national, racial, or religious group—in whole or in part.
