Lanuza, Spain
Lanuza is a populated place belonging to the Spanish municipality of Sallent de Gállego, in the province of Huesca Huesca ( an, Uesca, ca, Osca), officially Huesca/Uesca, is a province of northeastern Spain, in northern Aragon. The capital is Huesca. Positioned just south of the central Pyrenees, Huesca borders France and the French Departments of Haute-G ..., Aragon. It is a Pyrenean village lying on the left bank of the Gállego river. The inhabitants were forced to leave in 1978 in order to create a water reservoir that was projected to flood the town. Consequently, Lanuza was stripped of its municipality status and the land was incorporated as part of Sallent de Gállego. The projections that the town would be destroyed entirely, however, proved inaccurate, as only some of the buildings ended up underwater. Sallent De Gállego
Sallent de Gállego (in Aragonese: ''Sallent de Galligo'' or ''Sallén de Galligo'') is a municipality located in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. The town is located in the central Pyrenees besides the reservoir of Lanuza on the foot of some of the highest summits of the chain, close to the border with France. It is part of the Alto Gállego comarca, and it is the capital of the Tena Valley. These localities are also part of the municipality: Formigal, Portalet d'Aneu, Lanuza, Escarrilla, Tramacastilla and Sandiniés. Gállego (river)
The Gállego is a river in Aragon, Spain, one of the main tributaries of the Ebro River. It has a watershed of over , with a total length of . The river has its source at in Col d'Aneu, Pyrenees, not far from the Col du Pourtalet. It then flows in the Tena Valley through the municipalities of Sallent de Gállego, Panticosa and Biescas. Starting from Sabiñánigo it forms a wide elbow until Triste, from which it continues in its primitive north–south direction until flowing into the Ebro near Zaragoza. The main tributaries of the Gállego in its upper basin are the Aguas Limpias, Caldarés, Escarra, Lana Mayor and Aurín. In the medium and lower basin, they include Guarga, Seco, Asabón and Sotón. The river's waters are subject to extensive regulation and derivation during its course, thus when it flows into the Ebro its discharge is just some 10 percent of its natural discharge.
