Lac McArthur (McArthur Lake) is a lake in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada, not far north of Ottawa. Location Lac McArthur (EHEZQ) is in Val-des-Monts, Les Collines-de-l'Outaouais, Quebec, at . It is fed by the Rivière Blanche from Lac Saint-Pierre and empties into Lac Grand to the southeast. The lake is at an elevation of . The lake association is a member of the Federation of Lakes of Val-Des-Monts, a voluntary organization that works to protect water quality in the region. In 1990 Air Wapus Enr. was granted a license to operate a domestic air charter service from a base at Lac McArthur between 15 May and 15 October each year, however this license ended in 2001. Val-des-Monts, Quebec
Val-des-Monts is a municipality in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada, located about north of Ottawa, Ontario. It has a population of 13,328 residents in 2021. Formed in 1975 by the merger of the towns of Perkins, Saint-Pierre-de-Wakefield and Poltimore, it consists mainly of farms and mountainous forests. Many of its residents commute to Ottawa or Gatineau for work. Due to its numerous lakes, its population is boosted during summers by people living in cottages. Most of the people in Val-des-Monts live in the village of Perkins. Toponymy The name of Val-des-Monts is from the French words ''Val'' which means "small valley" and ''Monts'' which means "mounts". Les Collines-de-l'Outaouais (French for "The hills of the Outaouais") is a regional county municipality in the Outaouais region of western Quebec, Canada. The region nearly encircles the City of Gatineau, which is to the south. Its administrative seat is in Chelsea, Quebec. Outaouais (, ; also commonly called The Outaouais) is a region of western Quebec, Canada. It includes the city of Gatineau, the municipality of Val-des-Monts and the Papineau region. Lac Grand (Quebec)
Lac Grand is a lake in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. It covers an area of about 377 hectares and lies at an elevation of above sea level. There are no settlements on the lake, although it has many cottages on its shore. Despite having many cottages, some permanent residents live on the lake. Watersports such as waterskiing and sailing are popular among residents of the lake. Other popular recreation includes fishing and swimming. The lake community recently published a book for lake residents entitled "The Grand Experience", covering the history and geography of the lake. An oligotroph is an organism that can live in an environment that offers very low levels of nutrients. They may be contrasted with copiotrophs, which prefer nutritionally rich environments. Oligotrophs are characterized by slow growth, low rates of metabolism, and generally low population density. Oligotrophic environments are those that offer little to sustain life. Chlorophyll (also chlorophyl) is any of several related green pigments found in cyanobacteria and in the chloroplasts of algae and plants.
