Løkken-Vrå
Løkken-Vrå was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in the North Jutland County, Denmark until January 1, 2007. It was located on the northwest coast of the island of Vendsyssel-Thy on the northern Jutland peninsula. The municipality covered an area of , and had a total population of 8,828 (2005). The two main towns were Vrå and Løkken, where Vrå acted as the seat of the municipal council. Løkken-Vrå municipality ceased to exist following the Municipality Reform of 2007 (Danish: ''kommunalreformen''). It was merged with existing Hjørring, Hirtshals, and Sindal municipalities to form an enlarged Hjørring municipality with a total area of and a total population of ca. 67,816. The new municipality belongs to Region Nordjylland ("North Jutland Region"). Hjørring Municipality
Hjørring Municipality is a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in North Jutland Region on the west coast of the island of Vendsyssel-Thy at the top of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , making it the largest in Vendsyssel, and it has a total population of 67,121 (2008). Its current mayor is Arne Boelt, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hjørring. Løkken, Denmark
Løkken is a town in Vendsyssel, Denmark with a population of 1,608 (1. January 2022). The town has historically been referred to as Løchen or Lykken. Originally, the town began as a fishing village with a successful shipping trade; today it is a popular tourist and vacationing destination. North Jutland County
North Jutland County ( da, Nordjyllands Amt) is a former county (Danish: ''amt'') in northern Denmark. It was located on the eastern half of Vendsyssel-Thy and the northernmost part of the Jutland peninsula. It was the largest county in Denmark, but with a relatively low population. Katja Schumann
Katharina "Katja" Schumann (born September 16, 1949) is a Swedish-Danish retired circus performer who performed with, among others, Cirkus Schumann and the Big Apple Circus. Early life Schumann was born to Ernst "Max" Schumann, a circus proprietor, and Vivi Merete Mikkelsen, the daughter of a Danish veterinarian. Vrå
Vrå is a railway town in Hjørring municipality, Denmark. It was the former municipal seat of the abolished Løkken-Vrå municipality. As of 1 January 2022, Vrå has a population of 2,509. History In 1370, the town's name was documented as ''Wra'', with later iterations of ''Vraa'', ''Wraa'', and ''Vro''. In Danish, "Vrå" means ''nook'' or ''corner''. Despite its long history, Vrå was only a small farming community until the late 19th century, when a station was constructed on the Vendsyssel railway line. The station building was erected in 1870 and the railway opened in 1871. The town largely grew up around the railroad, and most buildings were constructed after its completion. Hirtshals Municipality was a municipality ( da, kommune) in Denmark. It was located on the west and north coast of the Jutland peninsula and belonged to North Jutland County. Lone Træholt
Lone Træholt is the first woman in the Danish armed forces to obtain the rank of general. On 30 September 2016, she was promoted to brigadier general in the Royal Danish Air Force, heading the Tactical Air Staff. In 2000, Træholt became the first woman in the Danish Air Force to hold the rank of lieutenant colonel ( da, oberstløjtnant), and in 2008, she became the first woman in the Danish Air Force to hold the rank of colonel ( da, oberst). The North Jutland Region ( da, Region Nordjylland), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions.
