Luís Viana Filho
Luís Viana Filho, in old spelling Luiz Vianna Filho (28 March 1908 – 5 June 1990), was a Brazilian lawyer, professor, historian and politician who governed the state Bahia from 1967 to 1971. Biography Luís Viana Filho was born in Paris, France, and his birth certificate was registered in Salvador, Brazil. He was the son of the last governor of Bahia in the 19th century, Luís Viana. He graduated in law in 1929, but exercised the profession of journalist, corresponding to the newspapers in the Bahian capital "Diário da Bahia" and "A Tarde". In 1934 he entered politics, being elected federal deputy, being removed due to the coup of the Estado Novo, which returned him to journalism. The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. Rodrigues Lima
Joaquim Manuel Rodrigues Lima (May 4, 1845 – December 18, 1903) was a Brazilian physician and politician who served in the Paraguayan War and was an attorney in the hometown and ruled the state of Bahia. Biography He was the son of Captain Joaquim Manuel Rodrigues Lima and Rita Sofia Gomes de Lima (sister of the Baron of Caetité). At the age of ten he went to study in Salvador and in 1862 he entered the Medical School of the capital of Bahia and, attending the 5th year, serves in the blood hospitals of the Paraguayan War, as a surgeon. He survived, with heroism, the sinking of the ship that was driving him to Uruguay. In 1868, after returning completes the medical course. Returning to Caetité, he married the firstborn of the Baron of Caetité and his cousin, D. Maria Victoria Gomes de Albuquerque Lima.
