Luskintyre is a small rural area in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. It is off the New England Highway near Lochinvar. Luskintyre stretches over 15 kilometres between Lochinvar and Lambs Valley. The Luskintyre bridge was used in the filming of the popular film "Tomorrow, When the War Began". The Luskintyre Aviation Flying Museum operates a private airfield in the area used for the restoration of vintage aeroplanes. Luskintyre Airfield
Luskintyre Airfield is a private aerodrome in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. The airfield is located in Luskintyre, approximately north west of Maitland. The airfield site has an area of and is home to the Luskintyre Aviation Flying Museum; and is primarily used for the restoration of vintage aircraft, particularly de Havilland Tiger Moths. The museum has the largest fleet of operational Tiger Moths in Australia. There are five hangars on the property used for storage and restoration. De Havilland Tiger Moth
The de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth is a 1930s British biplane designed by Geoffrey de Havilland and built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company. It was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and other operators as a primary trainer aircraft. In addition to the type's principal use for ''ab initio'' training, the Second World War had RAF Tiger Moths operating in other capacities, including maritime surveillance and defensive anti-invasion preparations; some aircraft were even outfitted to function as armed light bombers. Greta, New South Wales
Greta is a small town in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. History The Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Maitland area are the Wonnarua people. The Greta area was first colonized by Europeans around Anvil Creek in the 1830s. When the town was surveyed in 1842 it was given the name Greta, possibly after a small river in Cumberland, England. Coal mining was established in the area in 1862 with the development of a railway station. In 1864, kerosene shale was discovered. By the 1870s, Greta had four hotels, four churches, a school and schools of arts. Geologist Edgeworth David discovered the Greta Coal Seam in 1886. By 1907 ten collieries were in operation. The 2021 Australian census, simply called the 2021 Census, was the eighteenth national Census of Population and Housing in Australia. New England Highway
New England Highway is an long highway in Australia running from Yarraman, north of Toowoomba, Queensland at its northern end to Hexham at Newcastle, New South Wales at its southern end. It is part of Australia's National Highway system, and forms part of the inland route between Brisbane and Sydney. Hunter Region
The Hunter Region, also commonly known as the Hunter Valley, is a region of New South Wales, Australia, extending from approximately to north of Sydney. It contains the Hunter River and its tributaries with highland areas to the north and south. The Division of Lyne is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. Geography Since 1984, federal electoral division boundaries in Australia have been determined at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Redistributions occur for the boundaries of divisions in a particular state, and they occur every seven years, or sooner if a state's representation entitlement changes or when divisions of a state are malapportioned.
