Luis De Quixano Y Font
Luis de Quixano y Font (c. 1810 - c. 1880) was Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 11 July 1863 to 23 June 1865. Background Quixano Font was a retired Spanish colonel that performed as corregidor mayor of Ponce. He was also an early propeller of the celebration of the '' fiestas patronales'' in Ponce. Mayoral term Luis de Quixano y Font is best known for building the now-historic 65-kiosk Plaza del Mercado de Ponce in 1863. Occupying a full city block, this farmers' market was modeled after the Paris farmers' market. Luis de Quixano is also credited with setting up the first lighting of the city, when he ordered the installation of 16 oil-based lampposts around Plaza Las Delicias in 1864. Hilarión Pérez Guerra (c. 1800 – c. 1870) was Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from January 1857 to 11 July 1863. Plaza Las Delicias
Plaza Las Delicias is the main plaza in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. The square is notable for its fountains and for the various monuments it contains. The historic Parque de Bombas and Ponce Cathedral buildings are located within the plaza, which actually consists of two squares: Plaza Muñoz Rivera on the north end, and Plaza Degetau on the southern end. The square is the center of the Ponce Historic Zone, and it is flanked by the historic Ponce City Hall to the south, the early 19th-century Teatro Fox Delicias to the north, the NRHP-listed Banco Crédito y Ahorro Ponceño and Banco de Ponce buildings to the east, and the Armstrong-Poventud Residence to the west. This is a list of mayors of Ponce, Puerto Rico's southern economic center, the island's second largest and second most important city. From 1692 to 1840, the office of mayor in Ponce was filled either by local hacendados or by military officers appointed by the governor, depending on whether the political situation on Spain at the time was that of a constitutional or an absolutist government. From 1840 to 1870, mayors were oftentimes elected by the municipal council, whose members were called ''regidores''. Francisco Olazarra
Francisco Olazarra (c. 1805 – c. 1885) was a corregidor Mayor of Ponce, Puerto Rico, from 23 June 1865 to 31 December 1865 Background Olazarra (full name: Francisco Olazarra y Sanchez) was lieutenant of the Primera División in the '' Regimento de Extremadura'' (Extremadura Regiment) and had been wounded during the Battle of Bilbao. As lieutenant, he reported to Captain Matias Escay. He was named corregidor Mayor of Ponce by Puerto Rico's Lieutenant General Félix María de Messina Iglesias on 5 June 1865, proclaimed on 10 June of that year, and started his commission on 23 June. His appointment was the result of Luis Quixano y Font being moved to Aguadilla to serve as corregidor mayor there, thus leaving vacant the post in Ponce.
