Lucy Gordon (tennis)
Lucy Gordon is an American former professional tennis player. A native of Coronado, California, Gordon played collegiate tennis for the UCLA Bruins. She won the doubles title at the U.S. national amateur clay court championships in 1979 (with Sheila McInerney). Gordon made the 1981 US Open singles main draw as a lucky loser from qualifying and was beaten in the first round by Renee Blount. The following year she and partner Patrizia Murgo Patrizia Murgo (born 26 March 1962) is an Italian former professional tennis player. Patrizia Murgo (born 26 March 1962) is an Italian former professional tennis player. Tennis career Murgo, a native of Florence, was the first Italian to reach an Orange Bowl final when she finished runner-up to Kathy Horvath in 1979. She was also a women's doubles bronze medalist at that year's Mediterranean Games in Split, with Antonella Rosa as her partner. In 1981 and 1982, Murgo was a member of the Italy Federation Cup team as a doubles specialist, usually partnering Sabina Simmonds. She won six of her eight Federation Cup doubles rubbers. While competing on the WTA circuit her best result in a singles tournament came at the 1981 Italian Open, where she reached the round of 16. Sheila McInerney
Sheila McInerney (born February 22, 1958) is an American former professional tennis player. Biography McInerney is originally from Rome, New York and began playing tennis at the age of eight. A former student at the Rome Free Academy, she later moved to Miami to further her tennis and attended Palmetto High School. She received a tennis scholarship to the University of Southern California (USC Trojans) in 1976. As an amateur, McInerney qualified for the main draw of the 1977 US Open and made it through to the third round, where she was beaten in three sets by Billie Jean King. In 1978 she partnered with USC teammate Barbara Hallquist to a runner-up finish in the doubles at the U.S. Clay Court Championships. By the time she graduated from USC in 1980, she had achieved four All-American selections and was captain of the Trojans in her senior year.
